Dr. Faith Hartman Cohen, MD

I am writing this review because Dr. Cohen needs to understand that when she enters into agreements with certain insurers she cannot refuse a potential patient based off of not liking the particular insurer and not wanting to deal with them. She is in a legal contractual agreement to provide services to those beneficiaries unless for example, the doctor is currently not accepting new patients. Nobody likes dealing with insurance, but this is how our healthcare system is structured. It is unfair to the person seeking mental health services to be denied them especially when there are few other providers in the area that accept the same insurance.

Dr. Faith Cohen is an amazing therapist and I owe a lot of my personal growth to the weekly conversations that we had together. She is incredibly wise and I feel lucky to have crossed paths with her and hope that she may have the same impact on you and that you may find peace in your life. Thank you, Dr. Cohen.

While her experience is definitely self-evident, she lacks the cultural competency to handle the needs of marginalized clients. She frequently frames the handling of their issues and their justifiable anger as "self-destructive", and has stated on numerous occasions that she has felt ill-equipped to handle trans issues - a fact that she seemed unmotivated to change. She was very helpful for a time in my life where I had very little emotional support, but I find myself now having to unlearn a lot of the narratives she taught me about my behavior.

Often provide biting remarks and comments and do not hold back expression of personal prejudice. Avoid at all cost.
