Amazing Dr! About 8 years ago I had been advised by another Spine Surgeon that I would need a back operation. I saw DrCheco who advised that while I had issues I was not a candidate for surgery now, “maybe is 6 years or so.” Well, it has been 8 years. I few months ago I was in agony again. Expecting the worst, I made an appointment, knowing a got an extra 2 years. Met with him. Said, no surgery now, prescribes an epidural and PT and for the last month and a half I have been pain free. The man knows his business. Truly an amazing doctor and more importantly, a tremendous human being. If you have any back issues, sue your back a favor and take it to see Dr Checo.

Dr Checo is a wonderful, caring dr! He takes his time and explains everything and is always available if you have a problem. He has an amazing staff as well! Gina is one of a kind! She has helped us more times than I can count! She is truly a gem! I can’t say enough about both of them! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Had surgery 5 years ago with NYC surgeon who ignored my severe back pain which developed months after surgery. I felt alone and unsure. Saw Dr. Checo for a 2nd opinion and he actually listened to my complains and was able to figure out why I was having such bad back pain. I never healed it and had what is called an non union. I'm having a redo surgery next week but I already feel good knowing I actually had a problem that could be fixed. Thank you

If you like feeling rushed, unheard and enjoy the feeling of being uncertain then he’s the Dr for you. My initial appointment with him was all of 3 minutes and included him asking me questions and talking over the answers I attempted to give him. I got an MRI done over 2 weeks ago, have left numerous messages in an attempt to obtain the results of said MRI with no contact from him or the office. So that’s fun. Good luck if you decide to choose him.

Exactly two months ago I had back surgery with Dr Checo. I can’t believe how amazing I am doing. Back to most my daily activities. Dr Checo will definitely help you, he’s not a bs doctor. I trust him with my life. Don’t hesitate to see him. The Rockville Center staff are also amazing. Love Central Orthopaedic, they really do care!!!

DrCheco is the man. Caring, funny, knowledge and magic hands. He did my back surgery 10/10/19 I was scared and had no hope. He wouldn’t take that from me. My experience with Dr Checo was the best. When you are feeling hopeless and life’s challenging, he gives you hope. I enjoy the fact that he takes extra time with his patients to explain the diagnosis and what’s going on with you.

Gifted surgeon and compassionate man. I had serious back problems after 3 back surgeries in the city. I felt lost and hopeless. I was tired of taking meds to lower my pain. I saw Dr. Checo as a last resort after a friend recommended him. All I can say is that he diagnosed me with condition called “flat back”. After a ton of test he told me he could help me. After a complex surgery where he “realigned” my back I’m happy to report that I’m doing a whole lot better. I’m 1 1/2 years out and happy.

In my entire life I've never met a surgeon who is so caring and thoughtful as Dr. Checo. 8 had a serious back condition which made me feel hopeless , he was very throughrough and clear regarding what to expect and the recovery process. I couldn't be happier l.

Almost killed me! cervical stenosis surgery he said I was “fused cleared to play in the NFL “ then I’m admitted w/ meningitis symptoms. Checko stated there was fluid around the plate & a revision was needed, He didn’t tell me the fluid was a severe infection & I wasn’t fused. His team went behind his back sending me to get another opinion. 4 surgeries, two rods, 2 IVs, 5 mo on a feeding tube later, lawyers tell me it’s not against the law for him as my Doctor to lie about my condition.

Dr Checo is not only an extremely skilled and professional orthopedic surgeon who has performed life altering and life saving emergency surgeries on me, but he is also very compassionate, friendly and takes his time to explain and reassure patients in his care. I highly recommend Dr Checo to anyone. He’s a great Doctor and caring human being.

Went to dr check cause he was the assisting surgeon two years ago with another surgeon. When I called I explained situation and he agreed to see me. I had a mri done before I went and now I have to follow up with a cat scan I told I really dont want surgery . He put me on generic of lyrica only at night I started it last night and literally I feel good. I little soreness from injection that he gave me in my hip and it helped my lower leg pain in my feet from neuropathy. Was pleased with Ginam.

There are no words to express my gratitude to Dr Checo. From my first consultation I felt that I would be in good hands. I have worked in healthcare for more than thirty five years. I worked in a surgical practice so I have become rather critical of most practitioners. Dr Checo's expertise in my case was exceptional. I feel like he has given me back my life - a life without pain. I have always been able to speak to him without being rushed. Both my husband and I can't thank him enough!

I had a neck condition which needed surgery. I had 3 second opinions. With no improvement and after 1 year of neck and arm pain. I decided on surgery, out of the 3 surgeons I felt most comfortable with D.r Checo. He understood my fear of surgery and took his time explaining everything to me. Excellent surgeon! Had a lumbar microdiscectomy a little over 4 weeks ago. I have been suffering from back and leg pain for over 1 year, after 4 injections (paid for one out of pocket to try to avoid surgery). They didn't seem to last/work. I know wonder why I didn't do it earlier. All my leg pain is gone, a little numb but I can live with that. I'm back working and living life. Thanks Dr. C

Suffered from leg/back pain for years. After 14 epidural injections (yes 14 over 5 years), I finally had to have surgery. A friend recommended me Dr. Checo and was impressed with his knowledge, smarts, presentation and confidence. Went to 2 second opinions but they only reinforce my decision. Surgery was last month, I'm back working and extremely pleased. I know wonder why I waited so long. Only drawback is his office hours can sometimes be rescheduled due to busy schedule.
