Have Never Met The Man...
I had an 11 AM appointment in Dr. Costa's Bethel Park office. Checked in around 10:35, filled out my paperwork and had a seat to wait. And wait. And wait.People came in after me and went right in. Others waited a bit and were called back. A few of us just sat there. At noon, I asked one of the staff if it would be very much longer. I was told politely, and I quote, 'We only have two rooms and one doctor.'I was astonished by this. If you had 10 rooms and one doc would I be seen any sooner? Dumb answer.Dr. Costa may be the best urologist ever but I'll never know.

Excellent Urologist
I have been using Dr. Costa for three years. I read about the Urolift procedure and he is one of the pioneers of the procedure. I made an appointment to talk to him about it and decided to go ahead with the procedure. He performed my outpatient procedure at the Bethel Park Surgery Center. It was a success and has helped relieve my symptoms of BPH. I continue to see him for my yearly checkups. He also is knowledgeable on the importance of nutrition and lifestyle for your health. Sometimes I have waited for an hour in the waiting room for appointments at his office though. His staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. He listens and answers any of your questions and does not rush you through your appointment(which is probably why you have to wait sometimes). He offers sound advice and solutions. I would highly recommend Dr. Costa.

Terrible experience
Absolutely horrible medical practice!! The staff is unprofessional and the doctor egotistical. I ended up in the ER after a procedure he performed. Go any where else than here!! One star is too high of a rating!! ZERO stars is what is deserved!!

Left Kidney mass
I seen Dr. Costa today on short notice for a mass in my left kidney. His staff was wonderful all around too getting me scheduled, to making me feel comfortable as I was a nervous wreck. After filling out the paperwork I was taken into a room. Dr. Costa came into the room in professional attire. He explained my CT findings throughly in great detail.. He did a very detailed history, examination and fielded all my questions. He gave me a lesson in physiology as to how the kidneys work and put my mind at ease that he can help me. He talked to me for over one hour. Dr. Frank Costa gets my highest recommendation I could give a physician. If you have any Urology needs he is your guy. I cannot thank him enough! Dr. Joseph Altier

The short of it is I would not be posting this review because it goes without further explanation that I probably would not be alive today had it not been for Dr. Costa's skill, talents, care and professionalism that's goes beyond what I could have ever expected and hope for from a physician. Furthermore, the folks (including family members) who I have recommended to his office as patients have discovered his caring demeanor and acts of kindness besides his expertise to be unrivaled. His office staff is always available and offer what you didn't find much of today and that is attentiveness and attention to detail when it comes to your care... If you're a man and over sixty the likelihood that you'll need urology care will probably increase and listen to me.....look no further!

Dr. Costa performed a Urolift procedure for my big prostate that was causing me terrible problems. I can’t believe the difference! I’m off medication and my stream is so strong. I feel like I have my life back and I can sleep through the night without getting up 4 or 5 times. Dr. Costa is the only one in Pittsburgh doing this procedure apparently. I cannot recommend Dr. Costa or the procedure enough to people suffering like me!

Dr costa office are some of the worst medical staff I have ever encountered. They never return phone calls. You can never get through to ask a question or even leave a message. You always have to leave message w answering service. And even then , they still don’t call back . You have to keep trying and trying til you get them to answer the phone . I needed a pre-authorization for a medication. They had me call the insurance company to get the phone number for the authorization line. They apparently were able to get a code for the authorization and informed me that I needed to call the insurance company and give them the code. Never in my life have I encountered a situation where I had to get my own medication authorized. I’ve worked in a doctors office as well needing my own medications pre authorized and my doctor or my pharmacy handled the authorization. This staff is lazy. Do not go to this doctor. There are plenty of other good doctors out there that can do the same thing

WONDERFUL doctor! He took the time to address ALL of my concerns and I was comfortable with the care plan by the end of my initial visit. What's more, he ensured that I understood everything we were doing fully. I did NOT see a Nurse Practitioner or PA (like I have at other Urology offices); I always saw him. I'm now doing better than I can ever remember thanks to Dr. Costa's superb care. I couldn't recommend this kind doctor more strongly.

Office management is horrible. All appointments take 2 to 3 hours beyond the scheduled time. The girls seem frustrated to the point that they don't want to hear you complain. The puzzle is what is taking him so long?

Waited for over 1 1/2 hours just to be seen, went to leave and was he was going to see me next, he had an “emergency”, you know, a urology emergency. I sat and listened to him yapping on the phone for for at least 30 minutes giving directions to someone, and a few other calls. Staff member lied, and there is a severe lack of professionalism in that practice. I choose to just live with my issues, rather than EVER going back to that practice again.

My appointment was for 8:45. There were 2 other patients scheduled for 8:30, and another for the same time as me, 8:45. He arrived at 9:00, making him behind by four patients. Go figure! Someone needs to teach him time management.

We visited Dr. Costa's office three times. We waited two hours to see him on the first and second visits. We waited four and a half hours for the third meeting. The doctor appeared angry when we declined to buy what he prescribed (cash only) from him. But he is knowledgeable.

Been going to Dr Frank for 2 years. found him to be very knowledgable and a easy to talk to cool dude. He thinks outside the box and is open to new therapies. Most doctors give the standard by the book approach. Not always right approach. Yes the wait is long, But as they say good things come to those who wait.

Showed up at his Bethel Park location and waited 2-3 hours for a 5 minute consultation. Week later had to drive all the way to Monroeville for the operation (had I known it wasn't at his Bethel Park location I would have never chosen him). Had third appointment at yet a a third location where the staff had no idea what they were doing and I had to wait an hour and a half for a 5 minute meeting where he was extremely rude. Worst doctor's experience I've ever had!

I hesitate to even write this review, because Dr. Costa is one of the most thorough, caring doctors you could ever meet. He is attentive and darn good at his job. The problem lies in his staff, which is tragic to me. I waited over 2 1/2 hrs after my appointment to get in. When you call to ask questions they say they will call you back and won't. The day before my procedure, I still didn't have a time to be there. I could go on with examples. Great doctor, not so good staff.

I have worked in healthcare for 40 years and never met a doctor so caring, so warm, or so reassuring as Dr Costa. He listened to my husband's concerns, he explained complex problems in simple terms, and he assured us of his personal involvement and care. He made himself infinitely available to us for any questions, not just about urology concerns, but any other health issues. He respected that we traveled a long distance to reach him, and he took that into consideration when scheduling.
