Dr. Frank Jan, MD

To preface, I do not run late to my appointments. I called ahead apologizing I would be 5 minutes late due to unforeseen traffic. The staff was very understanding and let me know patients are allotted a 10 minute grace period and thanked me for letting them know. I got there at 2:06 (2:00 appointment). The staff let me know that Dr. Jan canceled my appointment. While the staff was apologetic and kind, I find it distasteful on the Dr’s end to have a 10 minute grace period but cancel the appointment before that window has expired.

I was with him maybe 5 minutes. He asked if I knew what spinal stenosis was then said it was a narrowing of the spinal column. That’s it. Then he gave me 3 options for treatment, not giving me any information about how they would help/work. Then he asked me what I would like to do! HOW DO I KNOW?!? I have no information on what to base a decision.

He was dismissive of my questions and concerns, was not able to relieve my pain, and failed miserably to get my health insurance provider to authorize additional injections. Dr Daniel Marcus - a different and WONDERFUL physiatrist in the same practice - had absolutely no trouble doing so.

Dr. Jan has all the qualities one looks for in a physician: he is highly competent and very easy to talk to. I have been his patient for eight years. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Jan and everyone I've interacted with along the way (front office, medical assistants, Su tter staff, nurses) are stellar caregivers. A doctor recommended Dr. Jan when I asked who he'd take his wife to see if she was in my situation. In addition to being a skillful physician, Dr. Jan is a good listening and explains options clearly.
