In 2017, I visited Dr. Gayan Poovendran, M.D. at Meli Orthopedics. I explained that when the lower lumbar disc(s) in my vertebrae slip and its bones are pinching my nerves, I am totally disabled with severe pain. At those times, and only at those times, I take opioid medicine for the pain. I related to him my understanding of the tragic and unfortunate opioid epidemic. I am an addiction professional with twenty (20) years of experience at counseling persons struggling with addiction. I probed him in order to find out if he would be opposed to prescribing a small quantity of opioid medicine to me and my wife, when we experienced fierce pain. I described how I took prescribed pain medication for short timeframes periodically my entire life without a problem. He assured me that he was open to prescribing opiated pain medication to us. Four (4) years and many consultations later, my wife asked for pain medicine. He said, 'No.' I allege that he's a liar for breaching our long agreement.

Dr. Poovendran has a great bedside manner. He’s a genius. He listens to you and works with you. He has helped me with my knees, my shoulders, and my arms. Because of him, I am mobile, I can get around and I can wash my hair and pet my dog. I am healing all the time. He suggested I do my shoulder PT exercises in the pool and now I have more mobility. He acts like you’re his only patient and I recommend him highly. You will not be disappointed.

Trying to get a refill of a pain medicine for more that a week and a half. Called several times and left a message. CVS has contacted them several times. No response! This doesn't not reflect well on the Doctor! Office needs to be more responsive to the patient. Also, I did speak to 2 people in the office and they said they would call the pharmacy and DID NOT!

I am still chasing the office and Dr Poovendran's assistant to fax over my physical therapy order to Holy Cross Outpatient physical therapy since they dont accept the hard copy of the order. I tried emailing, phone calls numerous times, the order is still not faxed over while I'm suffering and in desperate need of the therapy. I have never met a more incompetent, unfriendly bunch of people! All that, after they refused to see me last time when I had a $40 unpaid balance on my account and did not have my wallet with me to pay the balance which is pending on insurance processing. I spent 1000-s of $ at this office already and this is how they treat me! Finally, they let me see the dr when I couldn't hold my emotions and started crying from the pain I had. I keep calling the office, nobody picks up!

Today for the first time I met Dr. Poovendran and I felt that he rushed too much when consulting me. I was left with questions. I had to ask the nurse to run after and get the answers. The clinic was full of patients. I did not have to wait. Having acute pain, I found the staff not so much friendly/helpful/considerate as expected when I asked to lend the walker.

We could not be more happy with the excellent service and care provided by Dr. Poovendran and his entire staff. They made my son feel so comfortable and relieved any concerns we had about his broken arm. Their service was fast and efficient. We can't thank them enough and are so happy they are there for us.

Recently my knee started to bother me. My coworker recommended PRP as an option to improvement my current symptoms. After having the PRP on my aMCL and joint space my knee discomfort improvement significantly allowing me to spring at top speed and jump with no resedual pain. This doctor caused me unconscionable pain and suffering following a stem cell procedure that somehow had bacteria in the injection causing MRSA in my right hip bone. He misdiagnosed the terrible pain following the procedure as expected and normal. He did not think outside the box and continued to treat the pain ineffectually never considering it might be something more serious. I suffered 16 days in the hospital, 2 surgeries to clean out the hip. I now await a hip replacement.

I saw him for foot pain that was unbearable with each step. I was on crutches. Thought I had arthritis but he said it was tendonitis. I asked for a cortisone shot near the tendon and some pain pills. He said no to both. I got a boot and crashed my car by hitting a tree. Then I fell and broke my toe. I fell again. In pain and he won’t give me pain pills or cortisone. I am alone and hurting. 2nd opinion! They had my keys from valet and didn’t give them to me. Cried ..no cell that day.
