Dr. Shimokaji is nice enough and relatively knowledgeable about the subject matter for which I visit her. The doctor has indicated that I need to be seen about 3 times per year to be monitored for my risk of a condition (consistent with advice from prior Ophthalmologists), I make the appointments as requested only to have them canceled by her staff because she's not available. Her staff seems disorganized and rude when I ask them why are they cancelling me? This may be reasonable if it happens once or rarely but it seems to happen quite regularly. There is also the $245 "administrative fee." You would think for such a fee at least the appointments that I'm told to make would at least be kept.

Called office to make an appointment, and was told there is a $245 administrative fee. Hung up and will find another provider.

The worst medical experience in my adult life. She was arrogant, dismissive, and rude to me. I will forever be floored that a licensed M.D. acted the way she did. Most hospitals or doctors charge you around $25 for a copy of your files, but this woman demands that you pay a $225 "filing and processing your paperwork" fee before you even see her. If you decide after your first visit, like I did, she's not the physician for you, the $235 is not refundable. Also, when I received a copy of my file, (which, including my 3 page intake paperwork, was 5 pages long - so $46 per page) I noticed that some of the facts I stated during my appointment were taken down incorrectly. I was there for a serious eye issue, not less wrinkles. She may be a talented physician, but my personal experience was horrible.

Dr. Shimokaji's office tried to charge me an additional $150 annual office fee in addition to the normal fees to cover "doing the paperwork." Further the fee was not mentioned until 3 minutes before my appointment. It felt like a scam. I cancelled and walked away never to darken her doorway ever again.

Extraordinary experience! I have severe heart problems, diabetes and could not drive or read. Went to 2 other docs and they sent me away. Dr Shimokaji spent the time to help me with cataract surgery and now I can drive.
