I’ve been with Dr K for two years now and I finally feel like I have a health partner in him. He listens and offers options. We have tackled the most pressing issues and moved down the list. No lectures, no ‘fat shaming’. He advocates, educates and encourages. I feel motivated.

Dr. Kousaie is very knowledgeable.
He has been my PCP for about a year. He listens to you, answers your questions and offers solutions that actually work.

No Compassion and Rude
Dr. Kousaie's first words to me were 'How did you get an appointment with me.' No 'bedside' manner. I felt extremely uncomfortable. Will not refill a prescription for a heart medication as I have no cardiologist at the time. He did once with no refills. My pharmacy has called his office to refill it at least 5 times without a response. As a cardiac RN I know you are not to stop this medication abruptly. Definitely would not recommend.

all buisness
My PCP recently moved and so I chose Dr. Kousaie as my new Dr. My last Dr. was charming and talkative. We had interesting conversations about subjects only tangentially related to my health. That said I often left feeling like the appointment was not very useful. Dr. Kousaie is not that Dr. He keeps extremely detailed notes. At one point I was concerned about a clicking I developed in my jaw and forced the sound from my jaw several times until he said sternly "stop doing that!", which tracks with what others have said about his personality. I smile when thinking about that. If you have ever seen the show "Monk" an appointment with Dr. Kousaie kind of feels like an appointment with Monk, which to me seems like a good thing. If something needs a longer explanation he is more than willing to spend the time needed but if you bring up something he does not agree with he may dismiss it in a way that feels rude. I will continue to see Dr. Kousaie and am confident in his abilities.

My excellent relationship with my former PCP for over 25 years ended because he retired, and I needed to find a new PCP. After three appointments with Dr. Kousaie I have decided to move on again and continue my search for a PCP whom I feel that I can trust and communicate with as well as I am used to. Dr. Kousaie may be the right PCP for some patients, but not me. I personally found him to be very rigid and arrogant, and condescending in his speech. He does not trust that in some respects I may know my body better than he does. Rather than let me speak he would cut me off and choose a topic to lecture me on and in my opinion this wasted much of our time together. I would feel like a hostage and I couldn't wait to get out of his office after each visit. He is also very dependent on specialists, which means mounting copays, possibly because despite his arrogance I don't believe that he even trusts his own competence.

Dr. Kousaie is an excellent provider. He does take the time with his patients and speaks to you in a caring professional manner. If you are a difficult patient he is the type to hold you accountable for your care. If your looking for someone to hold your hand and stroke your ego it may not be a good fit.

I have only seen him once and for a meet and greet, although he hasn't seen me for any kind of sickness yet he was very kind and did his best to make me feel comfortable once I told him how nervous I get around doctors. He made me laugh and kept things lite while getting my background information.

This doctor shouldn't be practicing. He belittles you, lies, contradicts, and misdiagnoses you. I left his office and felt extremely stupid. His nurse came in to let him know his next patient was there and I guess he felt it right to cut my appointment short. Will not be going back to him.

I found him to be disengaged and a something of a bully. I had had a battery of blood work done and the office had received the results days before my appointment. When I asked him about them, he said he had no idea and had not seen the results. I have been with that particular office for several years through all the different doctors that have been there, but I am now looking for a new doctor.

He tried to belittle me and argued about specific tests I need. It was only my first visit with him, but it was also my last. I do not trust him with my healthcare. If you have anything more difficult than a cold, seek medical expertise elsewhere.
