Avoid Dr. Lau!
During my mom’s stay at El Camino Hospital my mom experienced many amazing doctors besides one, Dr George Lau. This doctor was dismissive of any improvement my mom would have. After his 2-minute visits to my mom's room, the doctor would briefly talk to us and when updating him on any improvement we saw, he’d ask the nurse quickly after to verify if we were telling the truth (the nurse told us that’s what he would ask). On another occasion Lau asked how many hours I spend visiting my mom and when I responded 6 hours, he responded “You don’t work? Hahaha” ….As soon he was the hospitalist there was a huge rush for discharge. This doctor lacks any compassion for the patients and just wants to free up bed spaces.

AVOID DR. LAU
Absolutely terrible and dismissive and very condescending. I just got a chance to review my discharge notes from him and they are not accurate at all. He clearly just makes assumptions based on what's easiest to increase patient turnover and free up beds.
