Top doctor and excellent surgeon
I was lucky to have Dr. Shaak as my surgeon after being admitted thru the ER. He was caring, thorough and patient. He never was rushed when answering questions and his great expertise eased my anxiety about the whole unexpected ordeal. He also went beyond the call of duty to help resolve some administrative issues. He's a Rock Star!

A great doctor who really cares about his patient
Thought I had hernia and went to see Dr. Shaak on 01/22/2019. Shortly after CT scan on 01/25, Dr. Shaak called in person (2nd one in 2 days) and told me I had lymphoma, and he had referred me to Dr. Jolly (another great doctor). After 6 rounds of R-CHOP chemo, my stage 4 cancer went into remission. After chemo, did a few sit-up on an incline bench, and caused hernia. Dr. Shaak fixed it in 03/2020, very happy with the result!Very grateful to both doctors, and their staff.

Dr. Shark diagnosed my breast cancer. He was very kind and empathetic at this visit. He was patient when answering all my questions. He is too the point and a little reserved, but extremely thorough. He has a great sense of humor.

Dr Shaak did my first bowel obstruction surgery. Then I had another partial obstruction, I went to Emory their doctor said they could do Laparoscopy surgery. Due to a tear in my intestine caused by the resident, I ended up in ICU. After weeks in the hospital, I followed up with Dr. shaak. He said knowing the extent of my adhesions he would never have attempted laperscopic surgery. I recently had another complete bowel obstruction and went to Dr. Shaak. It went very well.

Dr Shaak just performed my 3rd surgery within 18-20 mos and I love him. He's very straight forward so if that's off putting, then maybe he's not the right one for you. He saw me first in an acute state in the hospital and although it was hard to hear, I was thankful for someone who finally was shooting straight with me. He's an excellent surgeon and has a great bed side manner. He genuinely cares a great deal for his patients.

Dr. Shaak has operated on me twice: once for a hernia and once for melanoma cancer. Both of these procedures were done about thirteen years ago. My first visit with Dr. Shaak was surprising in that he talked to me and not down to me. He also explained everything in layman's terms. He took his time and made me feel very comfortable. All of those reasons ar why I went to him for the second operation. He is a very good person, besides being an excellent surgeon.
