Dr. Gerardo Kahane, MD

I was first seen by Dr. Kahane after being admitted to the Aventura Hospital Emergency Room, thinking that I was experiencing a heart attack. It was determined that the pain was from multiple gall stones, with one particularly large stone. Surgery was eminent. I have several abdominal large size scars from prior surgeries which would cause a laparoscopic procedure to be highly difficult, but Dr Kahane accomplished it perfectly fine. I do not know of another surgeon who would have even attempted doing that. During my follow-up to surgery office visit, Dr. Kahane shared a program on his computer screen with my wife and me where my heart and internal organs could be viewed clearly; and he pointed to a hernia pressing against my chest and stomach that has shifted from where it should be. Dr. Kahane then demonstrated his sincere caring qualities. Rather than to schedule surgery to possibly repair my physical condition; Dr. Kahane explained that at my age, if he were speaking to his own “Dad”, he would recommend diet rather than taking potential risks associated with what would otherwise be a fairly major surgery. Dr. Gerardo Kahane placed my health over his opportunity to make money for his medical office. He is a fantastic surgeon, caring physician, and wonderful man. My wife and I love Dr. Kahane.

I am a 60 yo woman who had gall bladder surgery performed by Dr. Kahane. The whole experience was a crash and burn. First they failed to contact me with a time to be at the hospital. I went by an email I received from Aventura Hospital, it was the wrong time and I ended up being held until the last procedure. When I was take to recovery as I was still groggy, I felt an intense burning sensation in my abdomen. I was informed that the Dr. Kahane didnt want to order any pain medication. I am fully cognizant of the law pertaining to pain medication. However, not giving a patient medication for pain after surgery is barbaric. After some time they gave me morphine but once it wore off again I was in pain. Then they gave me fentanyl and that helped. I was kept overnight due to the pain. My PCP called me and I explained what happened. She immediately called in a script. Very disappointing experience. FYI I have had multiple surgeries that were by far more serious.

I Went to the ER at AVENTURA HOSPITAL with Very large gallstone ,infection and fever.Dr.kahane saved my life When he performed a perfect operation to remove my gallbladder Endoscopically.His bedside manners are the best he’s a gentleman and I would refer him to anybody that needs any type of surgery that he performs.

Excellent experience. His aftercare was exceptional and when I developed some issues (not related to his surgery) he offered clear and concise advice. I certainly felt that I had 100% support behind me. Fully recommended. Also his office staff were exceptional - friendly and helpful

Great surgeon

I had a procedure with Dr Kahane and everything was perfect! From beginning to end my experience was absolutely amazing. The doctors and staff (specially Gina and Jordyn at Front Desk) were very professional and took care of me like they know me for years! Won’t say I would love to come back (as I don’t want to have another surgery) but I wish them all the best!

I don't know how but Dr. Kahane performed my surgery two days after switching my PCP. The surgery was flawless and the outcome was the best I could hope for!
