Would NEVER recommend
I went to Dr. McClung a total of three visits for debilitating knee pain/unable to walk at all. Each visit I waited 45 minutes to 1 hour PAST my appointment to be called back. He only spent two minutes with me during each visit. Very rushed and put off with questions. He never did a physical exam. He thought I had a meniscus tear. (MRI would later reveal I had a complete ACL rupture). Initially, I saw him 2 days after my injury but was unable to receive the results of my MRI until 12 days past my injury. On day 7, I began attempting to put weight on my knee. I called and requested a doc return my call as I wanted to know if it was ok to be weight bearing as tolerated or if this would risk further damage. No return phone call. Unprofessional... My last visit a different patient was pulled up on the computer. Not sure he even knew why I was really there. It was apparent he did not care. Changed to Ortho Cincy and so glad I did. I would never recommend him.

Shoulder surgery
I had surgery 2 weeks ago to repair a torn rotator cuff. Based on the experiences of friends and relatives who had been through the same surgery, I was prepared for quite a bit of post op pain. To my surprise, I only needed one pill for pain relief and only took that because I was advised not to wait too long. To this day, it’s been uncomfortable, especially after physical therapy, but never bad enough to require medication. I believe this is due to having minimal surgical trauma because of Dr McClung’s skill. I was a veterinary surgeon and do believe that “practice makes perfect” and have so far been extremely pleased with the results of this surgery.

My wife had knee surgery because of the pain. It’s gotten worse every day since. She went back in and said he spent a total of about 30 seconds with her before leaving and never coming back. All she got was a cortisone shot and sent on her way. The issue never went away and she LITTERALLY can barely walk. So again she made another appointment where she was given a prescription for something that appeared to be as effective as baby aspirin. She called because she was STILL IN PAIN weeks after & the nurse decided she didn't need any medication and her problem wasn't important enough to contact the Dr. She was told she had to wait till he came back to work DAYS LATER. The whole experience has been a nightmare to say the least. The staff is outrageously rude in my opinion. She’s going to another Doctor that hopefully gives 2 s***s that she can't walk after paying thousands of $$. If she had it to do over again, she wouldn't go back to this guy if she was dying and he was her only hope.

I'm suprised by the good reviews. He ran behind by 25 minutes which is OK. However, that coupled with him not reviewing my x-rays with me during clinic is not ok. He wasn't interested and came across defensive when I asked. I paid for a service I didn't recieve. He left the room in less than 10 min and never returned. Meanwhile, I will need therapy now. No follow up with him- nothing.

I was referred to Dr. McClung after failed attempts at treating my symptoms by another Beacon doctor. He listened to exactly what was going on with me and diagnosed me within a matter of 15 minutes. Most importantly, he helped me understand what was going on with my arm. He truly cares about his patients and getting them back to a normal functional life.

My fifth meniscus tear surgery on July 26, 2018, since my first in 1999, and previous most recent in 2012. I cannot say enough good about Dr McClung and the entire Beacon Orthopedic organization. First of five virtually identical tear surgeries with zero pain or swelling post-op, and full range of motion the day after/first visit to physical therapy. Incredible! I am sooo pleased. I am 58, with a very physical demanding job, I was apprehensive about the future of the my career. I am optimistic!

Dr. McClung is an excellent doctor. His staff are very friendly and scheduling is easy. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to overbook which leads to a lengthy wait time. I feel that is a complete disrespect of me and my time. Although I think highly of Dr. McClung, I won't be returning if I have a need in the future.

I'm a 56 year old male that managed to rupture my right distal bicep tendon while moving furniture. The injury occurred on a Saturday, my initial consult with Dr. McClung was the following Tuesday and surgery was on Thursday. Dr. McClung is very personable and informative. He described his surgical technique in detail and how it resulted in shorter recovery times and better patient outcomes. I'm very pleased with the treatment by Dr. McClung and his staff.

Dr. McClung and his team treated me for multiple fractures in my right tibia. From the start, I felt safe and given care and attention of outstanding quality. I felt reassured, I knew exactly what to expect and what I could do myself to improve on my situation. Dr. McClung is very knowledgeable, down to earth and efficient. His attitude is personal and attentive. He has a an eye for detail and thinks outside the box. And the same goes for all the supportive staff and Physical Therapy!

Dr McClung is an incredible doctor and his assistant is amazing as well. But the 2-Star review is because he consistently runs more than a half hour behind, usually about an hour behind and over schedules patients consistently. This is incredibly frustrating as a patient especially when trying to work around work and therapy schedules.

Very caring and concerned about your pain and welfare. Felt better after seeing Dr. McClung and his PA. Was very pleased to find out I could have my MRI and see the Dr. for my results in the same appointment. Scheduling my surgery was very easy and quick. During my pre surgery the nurses were very caring and considerate. Surgery went very well and during post surgery the recovery nurse was also very caring and helpful. Would highly recommend Beacon Orthopedics and Dr. McClung to anyone.

I was surprised after reading the accolades, that Dr McLung showed very little interest in my injury. 1st, I was told when trying to make an appt, they didn't take my insurance. Wrong! Waited at least 45 mins in the waiting room & 25 mins in the exam room. While Dr. Mclung was hanging at the desk chatting. $100 copay for seeing him twice. One, very brief exam, then informing me the MRI showed nothing surgical, & "thinking" the hematoma didn't need draining. No care instructions given.

Dr. McClung is the reason I have use of my dominate arm. Another surgeon misdiagnosed the severity and extent of my injury and was going to wait to do surgery. A client of mine recommended I see Dr. McClung for a second opinion. I had completely detached 3 of the muscles that control my shoulder. Dr. McClung and his team were able to reattached the muscles and get me on an aggressive rehab program. His skill, knowledge and dedication reversed a life altering injury.
