My worst doctors appointment of all time
I have an extremely rare autoimmune disease (MAGIC syndrome: Behcet's disease & Relapsing Polychondritis) that was undiagnosed at the time, & I went to Dr. Anhalt to hopefully get some answers. Dr. Anhalt really seemed like somone who could help solve my mystery, but the unfortunate reality was he had absolutely no interest in doing so. He had his resident do almost all of the exam, & barely even looked at me. He was dismissive, arrogant, & stated patently false, outdated information about Behcet's disease as reasons why I couldn't have it. He misdiagnosed me, & offered no treatment or follow up care. When I brought up my systemic symptoms as evidence of Behcet's, he said I should 'stop looking for a unifying diagnosis' which is like, the opposite of what you're supposed to do. This was truly the worst doctor's appointment of my life, & the experience really negatively impacted me. The worst part is how helpful he could've been, & still could be, if he'd just believe my diagnosis.

The Best
Dr. Anhalt is fantastic. For a few years I went to various doctors trying to figure out what was wrong. Then Dr. Anhalt was recommended to me by dentist. He was able to diagnose my autoimmune disease and treat. Continue to see him as needed. I have only the highest praise for him and will be forever thankful to him.

Entitled and arrogant
Mister Anhalt was one of the worst physicians/dermatologists I’ve ever been to. He was amazingly arrogant. Also, if you see him on an outpatient basis at JHH, be prepared to have all subsequent communication come from a resident who is approximately 23 years old. The office is amazingly slow to respond, and when I couldn’t get in to see a doctor for my autoimmune disease he was treating, he outright refused to speak to that hospital’s senior resident to help me get my autoimmune drugs. This man is so arrogant and entitled he won’t get on a phone to help his patient. People like him should be banned from seeing patients. He’s a doctor that really embodies the horror show of Johns Hopkins Hospital and it’s legacy of terrible patient care.

Dr Anhalt is the top in his field -he treated me for pemphigus vulgaris back in 2011 and I am fortunate to have no disease symptoms for the last 10plus years. I flew in from Chicago to be treated! I remain forever grateful to him.

Frankly, Dr. Anhalt was one of the doctors that diagnosed and treated my autoimmune condition which is extremely rare. I would likely not be here today if it weren't fro Dr. Anhalt.
