Life-Changing Care from Dr. Grant Garcia
For over three years, I suffered from severe pain in my left knee—it hurt when I stood, sat, or moved. It was constant, and it deeply affected my quality of life. I initially sought help from another sports medicine doctor who ordered an MRI but ultimately told me the pain was “in my head” and that I just needed to deal with it. That experience left me feeling discouraged and hopeless.Thankfully, I was later referred to Dr. Grant Garcia, and my experience with him was completely different. During my first visit, Dr. Garcia reviewed the same MRI and immediately identified the issue: significant cartilage damage that the previous doctor had missed. It turned out I had damaged and was missing all the cartilage between my femur and patella.Dr. Garcia walked me through my options with compassion and clarity, and together we decided on MACI—a procedure where they take my own cartilage, grow it in a lab, and use it to repair the damaged area. I had the surgery a year ago, and it has truly

Complex knee issues
Dr. Garcia is the first orthopedic surgeon who was able to remedy my complex knee issues after years of chronic pain and degradation of my knee cap. Five months ago he performed a TTO, Patella Femoral replacement, MQTFL and cleaned up issues in my meniscus. This was a big surgery with long road to recovery. It’s been 5 months and my knee has been completely reconstructed and glides smoothly now for the first time in 15 years! While I’m still in PT and working to get back to 100% I’m confident I’ll be able to hike, ski, golf soon without pain. Dr Garcia is a subject matter expert in ways I’ve not experienced with other surgeons (this is my 3rd surgery on this knee). He cares about the post-op recovery and is committed to his patients through all the phases, not just the surgical procedure itself.

Shoulder labrum repair and remplissage
I had severe shoulder instability for many years on both of my shoulders. The condition of my right shoulder became serious due to new injuries. It could dislocate from simple actions like showering or sleeping with my arm over my head. I pursued two shoulder specialists in Seattle, one of them being Dr. Garcia. He had empathy and explained in a scientifically backed manner that I appreciated. He cited research and drew on experience to tell me the probability of repeat surgery for conditions like mine. Combined with discussions about the ability to achieve my desired outcomes, he made me feel very confident going through with the surgery. For the severity of my condition he also suggested a 'remplissage' procedure; hopefully further lowering the chance of another dislocation. I am so impressed with the outcomes I wished I had done this sooner. I was back to competitive beach volleyball in less than 5 months, and this is the strongest, most stable my shoulder has been in 10 years.

ACL Reconstruction with Dr Garcia
I can't recommend Dr Garcia enough! I had an extremely smooth and easy experience with him for ACL reconstruction surgery and wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. I had minimal pain after the procedure and he was super attentive to my questions and concerns in every follow up appointment. 10 months post-surgery, he has given me confidence in my knee and my abilities and has supported my return to sport every step of the way!

Thanks Dr. Grant.
He's a great doctor. I spent a year with him. I had meniscus repair and maci. Took care of me. I can't say what it's like with other doctors, but would say for all of what you hear about Maci, this was pretty solid. I was back up in a few weeks and walking around for the most part. Healed up well. It's been a year. I feel pretty much normal now. I didn't have to get synthetics in my knee which was also a primary goal, so that I'd maximize my options later. Its cool because as science evolves I'm mostly going to have a lot of options on the table if i need to. I did much of research. He has a big set of options and expertise eg stay biological (ideal if you are young). Example meniscus can do repairs used marrow to stimulate healing etc. I'm writing this because he is good, and i want to help others. The first phase finding a doctor is the hardest. It does work, I'm going to go live my life now. I wish i could write more, I did a ton of research he's one of the best. Thanks Grant!

He was encouraging and supportive toward healing and recovery. He treated orthopedic surgery as a positive fix rather than a sad experience.

Rushed
Some aspects of intake were organized and efficient; others were not. As for the doc, I felt like he had some good information but also like he had fancy procedures to sell. It felt rushed and like I wouldn’t get much of his time during surgery.

Dr Garcia is a rock star!
Dr Garcia has now fixed both of my shoulders, and I couldn’t be happier. He recently repaired my left rotator cuff, and I’m amazed at how straightforward recovery has been. That’s the sign of someone who knows what he’s doing. He takes time to explain everything, presents all the options, and really listens to his patients. I recommended Dr Garcia to a family member who also needed shoulder surgery, and it all went very well. I recommend Dr Garcia wholeheartedly!

Perfect From Start to Finish
Dr. Garcia was a second opinion visit for me. I had a medial meniscus tear with flipped fragments in the meniscotibial recess. While the prognosis and method of treatment remained the same as the initial surgeon I met with, there was no question as to which one I wanted to operate on me. Dr. Garcia was very personable. He was confident but not arrogant. This was my first surgery and he took the time to make me feel comfortable and cared for. He explained why I would need a partial meniscectomy rather than a repair of the flipped tear I had. He explained exactly what to expect with the procedure, and what it meant for my knee long term. He was also able to get me in for surgery two weeks sooner than my original scheduled. I scheduled the surgery with him that day, and I'm glad I did. He performed my surgery yesterday and I'm amazed at how much better my knee feels already. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and he'll be the first doctor I call should I have future orthopedic needs.

Dr. Garcia and Team
Telehealth
I was faced with the reality of needing two Reverse Shoulder operations. The process of achieving this medical procedure began with a meeting with Dr. Garcia in his office where he explained the need for the operations, the reasons for its importance to my future, the elimination of alternatives with explanation, the venue where it would take place and the team that would be involved. In subsequent meetings prior to the operation he explained the specifics, both technical and medical, in terms of their viability, patient success and post operation procedures. The post operation procedures were backed up with constant technical aspects of scheduling & post recovery assistance. The double operation procedure and physical therapy had to be clearly and accurately coordinated. His executive secretary and staff were olympian in terms of their professional and kind attention. Dr.Garcia is a superlative medical doctor who cares about his patients.

Stellar shoulder repair
Dr. Garcia accurately evaluated my shoulder injuries and was a no pressure surgeon, giving me realistic expectations on what I could do without surgery and what surgery rehab would be like. He did labrum and supraspinatus rotator cuff repair and a bicep tenodesis. The staff were friendly and very efficient. I was doing light yoga again in 2 months and full yoga by 5 months. I talked with other people who had much longer recovery times than me. My PT said Dr. Garcia was great in starting PT at 2 weeks which significantly improves recovery time.Dr. Garcia himself is very kind, positive but gives you an accurate picture. He is a fast talker so don't be afraid to ask him to slow down or repeat himself. Oh, and I was very impressed with the OSS website. So much great info accessible for patients on each surgery. Great job!

I'm incredibly glad I went with Dr. Garcia for my ACL surgery. He is straightforward and professional, and his attention to detail is unmatched. Compared to the other surgeons we talked to, Dr. Garcia was a lot friendlier and upfront about the different choices of grafts that I had. I didn't feel lost at any point prior to surgery and during recovery, as he was very thorough and made sure any of my (and my mom's) questions were answered. I would give Dr. Garcia 10 stars if I could.

Dr Garcia operated on my knee following a traumatic fall. I am an active 58 yr old who had never had a serious injury. Dr Garcia gave me back full mobility and I am able to get back to biking, hiking and swimming. He has a terrific bedside manner and is an outstanding surgeon. I am experienced health care provider and recognize outstanding care which he exemplified. It wasn’t an easy recovery and he prepared me for that. I would totally recommend Dr Garcia.
