Came from urgent care because I was having high fever for days and they were concerned of sepsis or meningitis and was told me to go to ED to get some blood work done. At Henry Ford West Bloomfield ED tested positive for flu after waiting for hours, Dr Orthmeyer came out and sent me home telling me you have the flu go rest. I cried to him saying I’m scared I feel so sick I can’t take care of my kids. Still sent home with instructions to rest. That night I started struggling to breathe and became unresponsive and was taken via ambulance to a different hospital. If Dr Orthmeyer could have taken the time to do a further work up it could have been completely avoided. Do not recommend care from this physician. He also failed to identify a CSF leak from a spinal tap I had done and just ordered steroid's. If he had spent the time listening to my symptoms that my debilitating headache is better laying down (key sign of spinal leak) again could have avoided additional hospital stays.

Invalidating
I came into the HFWB ER and had Grant Orthmyer as my physician. I came in after having 3 syncopal episodes 3 days in a row. I have suspected POTS and fainting is not uncommon, but that often with extreme pain was not normal. I was in the overflow section and already very stressed out and Orthmyer behaved as if he just wanted me out for the bed space. He didn’t offer fluids and when he offered labs he said ‘your labs from 6months ago were normal, so you don’t really need them’ and said that I should just follow up with my PCP. He didn’t even bother checking for dehydration, he was going to “check my iron” which he noted it was normal 6 months ago. I waited in the waiting room longer than he even talked to me. My mother and I filed a report because I left the ER even more overwhelmed and in pain (lights from overflow room caused headache to worsen). They said that he was in the right (mentioned tests I didn’t receive until after er visit) and basically forgot the whole thing.

The best doctor
Dr. Orthemeyer took care of me at Henry Ford in West Bloomfield and he was so compassionate, caring, and understanding. He sat down and really listened to me and my concerns. He was deeply emotional and empathetic towards my situation. He was prompt yet thorough. His hands were so gentle and loving. Very strong manly hands. I will keep coming back to West Bloomfield over and over and over and over to specifically see Dr. Orthmeyer. The other ER physicians should take bed side notes from Dr. Orthmeyer

Horrible
How is this “guy” a Dr. rude, hot headed. Can’t have a conversation with him with feeling attacked. Poor or no bedside manner. I’d like to see his medical license revoked that’s how bad he is. SHAME on Henry Ford for keeping this so called DR

Horrible experience
I went to HF West Bloomfield on today, (worst experience ever). Dr. Orthmeyer Was one of the most rude, unconcerned Drs ever. I passed out at home 3 times. I came with a head injury after hitting my head on the bathtub. While focusing on my injury he never addressed the passing out episodes. He refused to draw any blood and when I asked him about bloodwork work he told me very rudely it was not his concern nor his problem. I shared with him my concern was me passing out which led to me hitting my head. He stated talk to a nurse not me. I told him he was the Dr, his reply was you are no longer my concern see your primary care Dr or someone else. I spoke with charge nurse and they put in for bloodwork. I have NEVER had this type of experience at this hospital. I NEVER want to see him again. I’m going to the top with this one. Messed over the wrong somebody.

I am a relatively healthy 25 year old and hardly ever went to the hospital, let alone ER. I was having bad chest pains and leg numbness and was told by several nurses over the phone that I should go to the ER. My sister is a neurosurgeon, and when I brought it up that she was told by a cardiologist to get cardiac blood work up, Dr. Orthmeyer was rude about it and refused saying a neurosurgeon doesn’t know what she’s talking about (funny he said that as he received his medical degree from the Carribean). As I was waiting to be discharged, I clearly overheard him talking to staff saying an idiot 25 year old came in wasting his time. It was one of the most degrading and off putting experiences I’ve had. I’ve never experienced that kind of rudeness and unprofessional behavior from a doctor in my life. Truly don’t know how he still has a job.

Met this unprofessional person at henry ford west Bloomfield. He spent more time trying to discredit other physicians than he did listening to signs/ symptoms.

Similar to the other report, my son was at the ER on Tuesday afternoon after passing out. Several vials of blood were taken but there are no results and no indication of any tests. Why would you take several vials of blood from a patient and not do anything with it? Unprofessional, untrustworthy. If I have to go back to this hospital or ER and this doctor walks in the room I will refuse service.

Tonight, I took Nicholas to #henryfordwestbloomfield with excruciating headache pain that has continued to get progressively worse over the past two weeks. We've been told it's a virus but he is waking in his sleep from severe pain & the headaches are becoming relentless. He was running a fever as well. Four tubes of blood were drawn and DR. GRANT ORTHMEYER, MD deemed no tests were necessary. He did NOTHING with blood that was drawn. Ran an IV of Toridol and Benadryl and sent us on our way.
