We've seen three other GI doctors and have never had an experience like we've had with Dr Kobak. I've never written a poor review about a doctor before. It took me several months to muster the courage to write this but I would like to spare other children from going through what my son went through and the guilt I have as a mother for not stopping the visit. This doctor did not practice consent before an invasive exam and seemed uncaring during our visit. I can only describe our visit as traumatic. My son also reports it this way. We reported Dr Kobak through the hospitals internal system of review. I would hate for other children to experience what my son did. There was a very different way the visit could have been handled. I would encourage others to use a different doctor. And I hope that Children's Hospital may consider reassigning him to less invasive procedures and having an MA in the room with this doctor.

Unfair in billing
In my child last office visit to him, he appeared friendly, but his office charge raised some fairness concerns. They charged the fee based on a claimed office time of more than 45 minutes. But the doctor spent only about 20-25 minutes with my child, and most of the time there we were waiting or were with the nurse

Absolutely disgusting person, it really scares me to know someone like this is allowed around children. Disgusted and sad.

Discounted us for YEARS. Condescending, disrespectful, then raised his voice at my disabled daughter. Now 3 years later, multiple surgeries, specialists and my daughters colon is completely non functional, had a big section removed, motility is so bad she needs a GJ tube. I would never recommend him.

Confused by the negative feedback. We actually switched from another GI doctor to Dr Kobak because he was so patient at explaining everything and more thorough. He picked up on things the other GI doctor didn’t. Very happy with his care.

I have never been treated so poorly as a parent trying to seek help for ongoing issues with our daughter like I was from him! Couldn't ask questions without getting snide comments back, and telling me "What do I know? I'm only the doctor!" Passed all the issues back to allergy that they sent us to the GI specialist for and now it's been almost three years of issues because no doctor will help us and LISTEN!!!!! This doc was a waste of time and money! No patient care that was warm and friendly!

Dr Kobak was wonderful with my son. He explained things we needed to know and was patient with what might have been a goofy questions. The only complaint I would have was his nurse was extremely rude. She treated us as if we were a bother for coming in. Didn't seem to have the time to listen to us and documented what we told her wrong. Even went as far as to roll her eyes and huff as she walked out the door. We were lucky to meet Dr. Kobak after that as he was kind.

Dr. Kobak is AMAZING! Unlike some of the other negative comments, he was friendly, thorough, and very positive! He made sure we understood everything, made eye contact with EACH of us, an explained ALL of our options. As someone currently unemployed and on Medicaid, he treated us WELL! His first goal - get our son HEALTHY and make sure we understand how to support him and be dedicated to what is expected! We are looking at insurances that he accepts in order to stay with him!

Dr. Kobak is a wonderful doctor! After visiting several different doctors for 3 years and not getting any answers to my daughter's condition, within 45 minutes of visiting with Dr. Kobak, he highly suspected Crohn's disease. Further testing proved him correct. Since then, he's been very patient in listening to our concerns and answering any questions. He's always been supportive and upbeat with my daughter. I've referred several friends to him and they have had equally wonderful experiences.

We went in to meet with him for a consult. The visit was brief. The diagnosis was as basic as it gets. Eat more fiber. Bill was over $600. I have called every number I could to confirm that the wrong code was not put on this bill. No one knows and no one can help me. Bill will be posted here if I can not get to the bottom of this over the next few weeks.

The entire experience from the point of being taken back to the exam room to being interviewed by the nurse, the assistant and then by the doctor was a very unwelcoming experience. There was virtually no eye contact with the parent or patient throughout the entire visit. The doctor was rude, condescending and impatient. The 1 minute exam of the 2-year old patient was marginal at best. Was this response because my daughter is on medicaid? I expected better from Children's Hospital.
