Dr. Gregory Smith, MD

A wham bam Dr experience that I've ever had. He bopped in. Move my arm and told me he would need an MRI. I did that and came back in 2 days. He gave a quick verbal on MRI results, did a shot and referred me to pt and a neck & spine specialist.

I took my husband who has Alzheimer’s Dementia there with a shoulder injury. He didn’t examine him, allow us to ask questions or even make eye contact with us. He ushered us out of the room after about a minute and told us to have the front desk make an MRI appointment. When I received office visit notes it said he throughly examined him and answered all questions presented to him by us. He absolutely did not! He disrespected me and more importantly my husband and that’s not OK.

He has performed knee surgery on both me and my daughter. He has incredible knowledge, expertise and overall awesome person. I recommend Dr Smith over anyone.

Not only doesn't he listen to the patient, he doesn't want to hear anything from the patient. He gives very little information. Doesn't want to examine your wound. And most of all, he has no empathy: you're in pain? Excruciating pain? Too bad. He won't prescribe hydrocodone because 'some people get addicted.'

I’ve seen Dr Smith on 2 occasions. He did orthroscopic surgery on my knee and on my next visit informed me I needed a replacement, making me have to wait 6 months. He did not do the surgery!! On the second occasion I fell and fractured my wrist. Don’t know why I went to him again!! He put a brace on it and I’ve been having serious problems and need surgery to try and correct the damage! Would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr Smith recently fit me in for an urgent surgery. In one day the diagnosis was confirmed and surgery scheduled for the next day. He explains everything very well in simple and clear terms.

You can go to this guy for basic stuff like cortisone injections, an exam for bursitis or tennis elbow, etc - which he will then pawn you off on PT people. If you are remotely close to needing surgery, he will propose that because that’s his money maker and most people won’t leave the island for a second opinion. Do not have surgery from this guy! If you have any choice in your healthcare - go elsewhere. Especially for important stuff like knee or hip. My second and third opinions contradicted everything he was trying to sell me. He is just behind the times, and does not specialize in anything. He is also arrogant, self-absorbed, etc. and has been known to throw a mini-tantrum once he gets wind that you consulted other doctors. So be forewarned.

Have had a partial rotator cuff tear for 11 years; Dr. Smith has followed it for over 2 years and finally suggested it was time for surgery. He spent adequate time discussing my options, and the surgery was nearly pain-free, sling-free after 2 days, and I now have a perfect shoulder! I do not understand some of the other reviews - he spent more than enough time with me, addressed all my questions and evidenced broad professional knowledge and ability to explain. I had a perfect experience.

Doctor smith saw my 92 yo father today. Prior to treating him he took time to explain the problem as well as his treatment plan. After finishing the visit he told dad what he needed to do to improve and even took time to listen to a brief joke. I’m a RN and thought he was great and professional.

What an arrogant guy. Speaks over you, won't leave you a minute to ask a question and rushes out after 5 minutes max. Will never see me again !

Dr. Smith repaired a fully torn quadricep tendon, right knee. Fantastic! No complications and great recovery. I always found him to be attentive to my concerns, answered all my questions entirely and took the time with me to make me feel comfortable. Very competent and caring physician.

It is sad someone gave him a license to practice. He is so totally self absorbed it is comical. Do yourself a favor and go to a teaching hospital. Avoid his entire practice.

Incompetent. After looking at my Mri, rehab, and doing a scope and debridement was the wrong decision had to go for a second opinion at JOI jax where dr Kaplan explained the severity of my shoulder and recommended me to uf health shands gainsville to the center for movement disorders where they did a total shoulder replacement! I respected dr. Kaplan for his decision. I would not ever recommend dr smith to anyone. Extremely happy with my new dr. At uf health!!!

Dr. Smith came very highly recommended by several of my family members who also had wonderful experiences with him. I am seeing him because of carpal tunnel trouble. I had surgery on my first hand about three weeks ago and everything has gone great. He has a great bedside manner and has always been willing to answer any question I had. I have my next surgery scheduled for next week and have no worries at all. He is a great doctor!

i was weary from the other review, obviously someone was upset for a particular reason, but no, this guy is total garbage. If you want to schedule with him for something his staff claims he does and later be referred with the same telephone number you used to contact dr smith, and get stiffed on that referred appointment. this office lied, im out of pain medication, with a a bone about to poke through my skin mind you, and regret for canceling a mayo appointment that was a day later than this

Dr. Smith is a Hit 'n Git doctor...doesn't want to waste his time listening to or taking questions from the patient. He wants to diagnose, tell you what to do and leave. Ordered me to do Outpatient Physical Therapy. I am not ambulatory and cannot leave the house. Twice I requested it, he refused. The third time, my husband drove to his office and explained the situation. He still refused. I am changing doctors immediately in hopes of getting some good medical help.

He has fixed both my shoulder and knee. No complications, minimal recovery time.
