I needed surgery on my peroneal tendon. He tried to convince me I also needed to break and reset my big toe (of which there is nothing wrong - nothing) and lengthen my achilles... his words. He insisted on all of these. I refused to let him do the surgery on my toe. He didn't lengthen my achilles, he did a gastrocnemius recession and BUTCHERED my calf muscle (of which I NEVER had issues before). My muscle is weak and visibly butchered/deformed now. It aches and causes heal pain now. He also overtightened the peroneal tendon in my ankle causing a stress fracture where it connects to the metatarsal (side of foot), that would not heal, it eventually snapped - requiring another surgery. When I called his office, he wouldn't see me. I found a new and wonderful doctor that knows what they're doing and doesn't push unnecessary surgeries. He was incredibly insensitive during office visits and the day of surgery. My calf is deformed and now resides between my ankle and where it should be.

Like others said, I found him to be flippant about my injury. He compared me to other patients- one who had been hit by a car. It was like he was saying ‘you are being dramatic about pain.” The last time I saw him, he said we were done but I said I still have daily pain. His response, “what are you going to do? So you have a little pain...” then I saw his notes and he was disrespectful and said I was trying to take this too far which was a refeeeto his refusal to get an MRI. My family doc ordered an MRI and I have a torn ligament and a neuroma that I went to a different doctor and had surgery on. I wish this guy would read these reviews and understand the impact he has on his patients.

I had foot surgery and he completely messed my foot to point I cannot walk without pain. There is a lump on top of my foot and my toes are fused and 2 toes are bent backwards. He is a terrible doctor and knew that he messed up and quickly discharged me. The office staff refused to give me the records and were nasty when I complained about my surgery. Do not go to this dr or office.

i had foot surgery a year ago with him and today I went to see a different surgeon to find out my foot never healed from his surgery and I have been walking around for a year in miserable pain due to him. My life has been ruined for over a year and now need a new surgery to fix the issues. Please do not get foot surgery with him. Save yourself pain money and suffering.

The office staff and PA were fine, but I found Dr. Uitvlugt to be flippant, disinterested, and altogether not very helpful.

Dr. U. is very thorough and respectful. An elderly family member, who requires much patience, sees him as a patient. He takes the necessary time to provide an explanation and respond to her needs.
