Respectful and thorough
I'm not big into Western medicine. I prefer to do things my way which is more of an alternative health care. I came to see Dr. Cancino because I needed to verify my pregnancy so I could register my home birth with the state according to Maryland law. She talked with me about my past pregnancy health and births. She talked with me about women's health in general such as getting caught up on screening for cancer since it is in my family. She was respectful the entire time. She did not speak down to me, and did not try to guilt me or shame me for my choices. She only informed me and encouraged me to do what she believes is best based on her medical education and experience. I am comfortable going to her in the future, that is rare for me. I tend to avoid doctors since I have had bad experiences with doctors not respecting my different choices. The downside is that she doesn't accept state insurance. The visit costed me $145. I don't plan on needing to go often, so I can afford it.

Dr. Cancino is a wonderful primary care physician who takes her time to ask questions and explain ones given situation. She is professional and thorough in finding possible areas of ones health that might need further attention after looking at blood pressure, blood work, ones body weight and other lab test that might be necessary. She cares about her patients, and she recommends lab tests and/or referrals that might be helpful after assessing ones condition. She will also recommend various shots that might benefit an individuals health. I am satisfied with the attention and care she has provided my family and I over the past 10 years.

I am very unhappy in my current situation. I called ProHealth which is Dr.Cancinos practice. I explained by situation about needing a referral for physical therapist and they told me that I needed to come into the office. I explained that I had moved and am not in the area anymore but could not change my primary care doctor through my business until next May (open enrollment). I asked if Dr.Cancino could call me back adn talk with me and the receptionist says "She probably wont call you. I will send her a message but the likeihood of her calling you back in slim". I said, "you mean she couldnt take a minute to call me in the next week or so?". Recpetionist says "No, probably not". NOT the kind of doctor I want if they can't take a minute to talk to me.

After many years with another physician, I went to Dr. Cancino. The first thing she did was a complete blood work, which I haven't had done in years. Dr. Cancino diagnosed me with Diabetes, vitamin D deficiency, inactive thyroid and high cholesterol. Thanks to her diagnosis I am now on a medicine plan and I feel so much better. She takes her time with each visit and goes through each test result. one of the best doctors I've been to in years.
