Dr. Haitao Zhou, MD

Dr Zhou and his team performed spinal fusion surgery on my back and neck in 2022. I have had no issues with either surgery since. I felt I was in very good hands during the entire process and feel fortunate that he and his team did the work. I have no hesitation in recommending him for these types of procedures.

I was referred to the Spine Clinic and unfortunately I was seen by Dr Zhou. The PA-C was polite during the evaluation. Then Dr Zhou comes in and says “What can I do for you?” I said “What can you do for me?” Dr Z says “nothing”. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn’t. Then some mumbling about he doesn’t know why I’m there…. Blah blah blah…. I don’t know either…. I was referred to you. I asked some other questions and it was obvious that he did not want to talk with me at all. I said sorry for wasting your time. Then he rolled his chair back to open the space to the door. I seriously wanted to ask him what his f’ng problem was. Dr Zhou was a total jerk to me! His profile says he treats his patients like family … He must not like his family very much. Find another doctor, unless you enjoy being treated like crap!

I was supposed to be in for.a 3 hour surgery but there was more damage than Dr. Zhou originally thought. He operated for almost 7 hours and joked with me after about beating him up in surgery. He was very kind and patient and produced great results. My back fused within three months and although a sizeable scar was unavoidable, numerous physicians have commented on what a great suture job it was. I was very impressed with Dr. Zhou but was unfortunately unable to thank him fully as I moved across the country.

Dr. Zhou repaired my spine in November, 2016 after cancer dissolved a vertebra at about the level of my shoulder blades. Initially I suffered 90% paralysis from my rib cage to my toes. Before my surgery, Dr. Zhou cautioned me that although he would do the best possible, it was unrealistic to expect that I would ever walk again. However, within 3 days after the 11 hour surgery, it was clear that the surgery had been far more successful than feared. I walk without any cane or walker & can even run a bit. Praise be to God for moving in Dr. Zhou's heart decades ago as he was growing up in China so that he could work decades of 14 hour days to be able to repair my spine.
