Outdated and biased practice
We were supposed to be send a 'new patient packet' in the mail that was never sent. Arrived for our appointment 30 minutes early, only to not be able to figure out which building to go to because there was no signage anywhere. When I called, the person I spoke with sent us to another building 15 minutes away, only to find out he wasn't there and told to go back, which ended up leading to us being 30 minutes late, which he complained about multiple times. Then spent over an hour listening to him brush over our concerns and practically deny the existence of Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD, essentially saying the patient seemed 'too smart to be autistic'. Did not provide any sort of actual surveys or assessments to lead us any closer to actual diagnosis. He obviously has not continued or updated his education, makes no attempt at addressing patients concerns and only offers his own outdated biases.

I was with Dr. Van for quite a few years.
Depression and anxiety that plagued me for all my life. I am now 68 years old. I have to say that at my lowest points, Dr. Van did little to help me. I finally left his "care" and looked for someone else, feeling I had nothing to lose. I am now under the care of a Dr. that has helped me turn my life around for the better. Dr. Van, in my opinion, misses the point of the patient's everyday suffering and projects his own thoughts over and above the needs of the patient. I was with him for years...to my regret. I would advise anyone to make sure that it is a good fit for you. If not, do not hang on as I did. I wish all who read this, the best.

I've been a patient of DrVan's (as most of us fondly call him) for over 13 yrs. I have found him to be unfailingly professional, empathetic, and due to his reputation, he is in high demand in this area. Those of us in this small town who see him on a regular basis consider ourselves fortunate!
