Dr. Harold Welch, MD

After waiting months to specifically see Dr. Welch for a very painful vascular problem, he recommended day surgery. I was then set up with ultrasounds, and my next visit with Welch. Out of the blue, I received a call from this doctor's office that Welch was no longer available, my ultrasound would need to take place at another location, and I was informed that I would be seeing one of his colleagues as he was 'too busy'. This was a colleague that I had chosen not to see. This practice is interested in billing, not patient care. Go elsewhere.

Dr Welch is an excellent surgeon he listens to your medical concerns and takes the time to explain what needs to be done He is very kind and I feel very comfortable in his care I would highly recommend him

My mother had the unfortunate visit to Cape Cod Hospital for a visit that resulted in needing a surgical AAA repair. Dr. Welch, luckily for us, was on call and promptly evaluated my mother. After being admitted to the hospital Dr. Welch had planned for surgery after being very thorough and ordering consults to evaluate my mother's safe readiness for surgery. Dr. Welch visited my mother inpatient every day to assess her, post op he called me each day to give me the updates on how she was doing and I very much appreciated this. I write this review from the perspective of a surgical ICU nurse that works in a large teaching Boston hospital, for which I am proud of my unit for the excellent care we provide, why I state this is because I am so grateful that excellent doctors and nurses work at and have cared for my elderly parents several time at CCH and I have full confidence in the care they receive in their own community with out having to be transferred to a larger city.

Dr. Welch gave me my life back! I had recurrent, very painful bleeds (ecchymosis) in my leg from unsuccessful knee replacement surgery and for 10 months I spent nearly all of my day in bed and in pain. I went to several doctors for their opinions and it was called, a "mystery." Dr. Welch did sclerotherapy on a vein and within 3 weeks I stopped getting the bleeds and could live a normal life.

Lahey Hospital Burlington, Ma. Dr Welch is very smart but lacks a bedside manner. Dr Welch came in the treatment room clearly rushed and unprepared. It didn’t seem like he had read my medical summary. He seems to arrive at a treatment strategy by catching the patient in a mistake. The patient doesn’t know the medical terms so that approach is not the most helpful for the patient Dr relationship. To add insult to injury I was scheduled to have a series of test that I just had one hour before seeing the doctor. I’m not sure where the breakdown in communication is. Dr Welch is very fluent in his discipline but he doesn’t seem to suffer us mere non medical mortals lack of information lightly. I’m certain he is a good surgeon he’s just needs to revisit human interaction 101.
