He doesn’t listen. He rushes. HE DAMAGED MY EYE by twice inserting the wrong lens in cataract surgery. Then, he quickly dismissed himself. The office manager (an ex-hair stylist) screens calls and dispenses advice. When I called and said I could not see, she told me not to worry, my vision would improve by the end of the week. And man, does he upsell.

I made appointment and visited Dr. Huang's office about twenty days ago. By then, I had my insurance plan and policy #, but no formal insurance card yet. Dr. Huang's Office person said I could choose to pay first and then to get reimbursement from insurance later. I chose to wait for my card. I was told my insurance covered my visit. I wasted two hours for nothing! Then, I visited again after I have received my insurance card. After over twenty minutes waiting, this time office assistant said they were not in my insurance's network. She STILL suggested that I'd pay by myself first and then I may get reimbursement from insurance later. I asked to check if I am covered for out network benefit. THEN, she checked with their insurance guy and told me "NO". I need to pay everything by myself! Two appts in the same month, I have same insurance plan and policy #! The impression I had is they don't care about you and just try to cheat and get your money!! Not honest people! Don't go there!

Dr. Huang is a true professional. He remembers details about you, tailors everything to the patient very carefully, errs on the side of caution with your valuable eyes, and is also just a friendly doctor that cares about his patients and staff. I’ve intersected with plenty of doctors and Dr. Huang goes the extra mile to help those under his care, beyond what you might expect. Thanks, Dr. Huang.

This office is an assembly line (apparently not uncommon), but I stuck with Dr. Huang because he ranks so highly on Washington Checkbook. My breaking point came when I called to get my latest prescription to replace a 15-year-old pair of glasses that had broken. The most recent Rx on file was from 2014, even though I have an eye exam every year. I was told Dr. Huang doesn’t write a prescription unless the patient specifically asks for one. Apparently he also does not bother to make a record of the patient’s eyesight because the office assistant said the 2014 Rx was outdated and offered to make a new appt. Instead I saw an optometrist, who was excellent (and less expensive). Also: There is little privacy; one of the tests is done in the hallway while other patients are parked nearby. And, as I learned belatedly from other commenters, the office is known for up-selling: for instance, pushing an extra test (I forget what it’s for), at a cost of $100, that is not covered by insurance.

Dr. Huang is an excellent diagnostician and cataract surgeon. In addition, he has a warm bedside manner. My only complaint, and it's an important one, is the condition of his office. The waiting area is filled with old chairs, the carpeting looks old and worn, and this begs the question "how sanitary is his office"? I'm a believer in first impressions and clearly my first impression was not one where I would give him 4 or 5 stars. I'd give the office 2 stars for cleanliness and appearance.

When I was in my 50's, I decided to get lasik surgery from Dr. Huang. He said I was a perfect candidate and for 5 years my vision was fine. After developing cataracts, I had to wear glasses and left Dr. Huang's practice because I lost confidence with him. I have since seen 2 doctors over the last 10 years and both said I should never been advised that way. To have lasik surgery at my age was a mistake because a doctor cannot remove the cataract as precisely following lasik surgery.

Dr. Huang's office is in short a mill. Their ultimate goal is to move as many patients through the office in as short a period of time as possible. There is no privacy during your discussions with the tech's checking your eyes. If you mention any areas of concern to the tech's they duly note them down but, Dr. Huang does not address them. Dr. Huang told me that I had two issues with my eyes but rushed out in under 5 minutes. He didn't seem to care if I had any concerns.

My vision deteriorated. Dr. Huang responded immediately and made sure that the Dr. on call Suburban Dr. Thaler, knew my background, and met me immediately. I did not have to wait as a result of Dr. Huang's call. in addition. Dr.Huang has been very attentive and careful to assess my vision every time that I visit him.

I have been going to Dr. Huang for 16 years. He treats me very well and when I have had urgent problems, his office always accommodates me into the schedule. I am shocked at the low ratings here - I wouldn't trade Dr. Huang for any other doctor in the region. His wait times are longer but he is the best and worth the wait.
