I have been going to an endocrinologist for 15 years. I got referred to her so she could help because I wasn't being listened to. She didn't order my labs and then tried to victim blame me for her mess up because 'why did it take so long for me to get them done'. She ordered the bare minimum tests. She didn't look at previous test results or what had changed with my labs. And quite literally told me: I know you want to PHYSICALLY be sick, and there are people who have thyroid issues, and maybe some time in your life you will, but you don't. (I literally have a nodule on my thyroid). Would rather be treated by literally anyone else in this world.

Not surprising that she's so poorly reviewed...
I'd been receiving treatment for a condition for over 15 years before relocating & needing to find new treatment in a new state. I was passed of the this doctor by my PCP and, honestly, she was a horrible experience. She told me that I didn't need treatment, that even though I had an established history & was on the extreme low end of the lab results spectrum, "...normal is normal," and that was that. That was well over a year ago, and I have been struggling since, thinking I just needed to 'struggle through it'. Not until looking up reviews and seeing how poorly she is regarded -- and that I'm not alone in my experience -- am I finally realizing that she was actually the problem, and now I need to go through this process all over again with a different professional.

Dr. Brooks made me feel very ashamed of my condition. I had several appointments with her and she never looked at me the entire time. She just looks at her computer and asks questions that I presume are on the screen and she checks off the answers. Discussing my treatment and prescriptions/side effects just seemed like I was a nuisance to her. I eventually just stopped going to see her. I have yet to find a new endo but she wasn't helping me in any capacity.

She spent a ton of time asking questions and getting to know me. She wouldn’t hand me off to nurses or assistants, she would even personally call me, if she had new information. I whould recommend.

Very condescending. Always makes me feel guilty for not being the "Role Model Diabetic." I missed one appointment in four years and had to re-schedule, then she had to cancel the re-schedule appointment so we had to re-schedule again. When we finally met for the appointment (nearly one year later), she told me I'd have to schedule all my appointments with her assistant because I miss too many appointments! There HAS to be a better endocrinologist out there!

Horrible experience each and every visit. Hard to believe UPMC employs such an unprofessional doctor. 1 star is far too high - more like ZERO star rating.

Dr. Brooks has the WORST attitude of any doctor I have visited. Arrogant, rude, and extremely condescending. She is the type of doctor that gives UPMC a bad name. I will be switching doctors.

I agree with Patient in Pittsburgh and will add that she never looked at me during the whole appointment. Instead, she kept her eyes on her computer. Would not recommend at all -- one star is too high of a rating.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Brooks?
Dr. Brooks is an awful doctor. Not only was she highly unprofessional during my appointment (yawning, coughing), she has an extremely bad attitude and is dismissive. Whenever I attempted to ask her questions, she gave me brief answers that did not really explain anything and she also seemed annoyed that I was asking questions in the first place (rolled her eyes a few times). The appointment was a total waste of my time and I have never been more upset with a physician's care.
