Dr. Hilma Yu, MD

Dr. Yu is the best gynecologist I have ever known. She is very kind, supportive, and professional. I love her. She is very straightforward, and this is very important for health, as you need to know exactly what your problem is. She does everything she can to treat you. I have had the best experience with her over the years, and I hope she always remains successful, healthy, and brilliant.

Second and last time i waste my time driving all the way from Brooklyn to see a doctor whom completely ignores you, ,makes you feel like you are making things up just for the sake of it. Arrogant, condecending just rude over all.

Dr. Yu is a doctor who treats her patients like family. She truly cares about her patients outcomes. If you’re someone who wants to be in and out within seconds then you don’t know healthcare. A real doctor reads up on your history prior to walking into the door and spends time with you and sets up plans with you and measures progress. She changed my life within a matter of 5 months and gave me answers no one else could for 10 years. She reversed my symptoms and now I’m grateful to be on the path to success. She is so knowledgeable, honest and makes you feel so comfortable. As a 24 year old, any diagnosis is extremely nerve wrecking but Dr. Yu’s plan of care is so trustworthy that I no longer worry. If you are ever considering her between another provider, I promise you.. you want to go to her. She is the best gyn I’ve ever gone to.

Dr. Yu was my gynecologist for several years. During that time, she was able to identify that many of the issues I was having were the result of a hormone imbalance. However, over the course of my treatment, she was incredibly condescending, often treating my concerns about poor responses to medication as though I was lying or whining for the sake of it. Additionally, she continued to hound me about my weight for years, despite being at a normal BMI for my height and that not being the issue I was there for in the first place.

THE worst experience ever. Waited for more than an hour for an appointment that lasted only 10 minutes. Rude bedside manners. She was very condescending and degrading. Clearly does not care about patient concerns.

The worst office ever. The doctor and the staffs don't communicate and giving different instructions to the clients. Dr. Yu has very bad bedside manners and rude too.

Dr Yu is caring, knowledgeable, professional and personable. I have always felt like I was the most important patient in the waiting room because she takes the time to talk and LISTEN to your concerns. How lucky I am to have stumbled across Dr Yu after my GYN closed her practice! Being 70, I have been to many GYN doctors. Dr Yu is the best!

I am so Thankful with GOD for Dr. Hilma. She discovered a big cyst and a tumor. Immediately she recommends to me follow up with a Doctor from NYU Perlmuter Cancer Center NYU Langone where Dr. Kent C Chan did the surgery. Thanks GOD , Dr. Hilma and Dr. Chan I am doing great. I like Dr. Hilma because she looks at me as a whole person . I came to her office just for a paw smear but Dr. Hilma went beyond that , she check my Vitamin D that was 19 she recommended to me to do everything possible to increases the vitamin D levels . She cks my bone density test and recommended exercises and follow up for that. She sent me to had a Ultrasounds and MRI, etc. Dr. Hilma is a person that irradiated life, all her; her clothes, her passion for us women to get well. She is a Doctor that care and with all her knowledge she has a passion a discipline to do everything possible in her care to help me to get well as a whole person.

Dr. Yu was one of the worse doctors I have encountered. She is rude, presumptuous, and has terrible bedside manner. She also has patients waiting over 2 hours after their appointment times. I don’t know how she’s still in practice.

After attempting to discuss my symptoms, my emotions and my concerns. I was met with nothing but the stereotype of a doctor who should not be in practice. I was brushed away, hurt and belittled. Like everyone else we go to the office for help, not to make friends. I wanted someone to guide me. Instead I met a person who is uncaring, unkind and can be described as a sergeant. For anyone looking for help, kindness, and support this is not it! Save your time and go elsewhere! She will have opinions of you that won’t change even with medical documentation. She is the epitome of why women struggle looking for help and why we fear so much about being judged and called mental!

Dr. Yu is an extremely inconsiderate doctor. It’s as if she forgets the field she is working in. People are sensitive and vulnerable when going to a Gyn and she completely ignores this. She is rude, and will make you wait 2 hours for her to rush your appointment and be out of your room in 10 min. I am a college student and she has refused to provide me with my birth control without seeing her after 3 months, yet she knew I was away at school for 5 months and couldn’t come home at all. After numerous calls to the office, and even a failed attempt at messaging her directly where she just redirected me to her office, I am now several months without my birth control. I am in pain which I told her and she does not care to refill my birth control. I am far away from home and did not plan on having to find a new doctor in a completely different state but now I do if I want to be on a method of birth control. Completely bizarre.

This review is long overdue!!! Dr. Hilma Yu has been my GYN for well over 30 years, from her beginnings in her Flushing Queens office and all of her moves in between to where she is now in Great Neck. I live in Brooklyn and have traveled to wherever she has been! She has literally saved my life 3 times (seriously) and has never been anything less than patient, compassionate, knowledgeable, supportive, empathetic and just all around nice. She is easy to talk to and takes her time with her patients which I really appreciate. I’m not sure what happened with some of the other patient reviews who state she is “rude” or “not nice” as I can honestly say I have never experienced that from her. Everyone has off days, patients and doctors alike as we are all human. I personally will not be changing doctors until it is absolutely necessary!

Dr. Yu is very a kind and caring doctor. She is always nice and answers all your questions.

I have been seeing Dr. Yu for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed in anyway. She always makes me feel very comfortable and that I’m in good hands. Always gave me great advice in a professional matter. She genuinely care as she will always give me a few extra minutes answering questions.

If you are looking for a doctor who will be compassionate or listens to your worries this is not the doctor for you. I had an appointment with her and as soon as she walked in the room where I was, she was rude. She spent the whole time scolding me because the last time I was there was more than a year ago. I told her my symptoms and her attitude was “what do you expect if you don’t come frequently.” I was looking forward to my visit and get some answers but I left there so annoyed. How dare her???

Doctor Yu is an incredible doctor. She is knowledgeable, extremely well informed, and thorough. She is a true professional, as well as friendly, patient, and kind. She listens carefully, is very clear in her response, and has always resolved my issues. Her staff is also professional, friendly, and responsive. I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Yu.

This is my first year seeing Dr Yu. She’s very informative and explains problems very thoroughly. She did a small procedure for me and called me the next day to make sure I was doing ok. She’s more than a doctor. She treats you as a friend, she worries about all of the other issues going on with your health. Very good overall, highly recommend.

I just had my first visit with Dr. Yu. I would like to recommend her to all my friends and colleagues. Dr. Yu is super professional and friendly. She is patient and caring who answered all my questions and concerns. She provided advices on my overall health check-list as well which totally went beyond my expectations. Such an amazing doctor! Dr. Yu is a highly conscientious doctor who cares about her patients well being and their physical health. At my annual checkup Dr. Yu identified polyps . Surgery was recommended. Dr. Yu explained the reason for the need for surgery (in an understandable way), what it would entail, what I could expect when I went to the NYU Outpatient Clinic on Zeckendorf Blvd. and what I could expect during my recovery. Dr. Yu was on time the day of the surgery, explained the surgery again and gave me time to ask questions. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia without issue (Dr. Chang anesthesiologist) .The day went as planned and the polyps were removed. Dr. Yu was there when I came out from anesthesia and let me know what she removed and explained the recovery process. What a professional with a heart! The entire nursing team, Lynn, Lindsay, Sarah and the operating room nurses were kind and professional. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Yu. She is an expert and a professional. Thank you Dr. Yu!

Dr. Yu is an amazing doctor. I recently started going to her and I am so glad that I did. She is extremely knowledgeable. During my visits with her she has been friendly and caring. My daughter is also a patient of hers and we have both recommended her to others.
