A Provider's Team is a Reflection of the Provider
Dr. Timlin's receptionist might be the most inconsiderate, downright disrespectful human being I have ever encountered in the medical profession. It is an absolute disgrace that a hospital as esteemed as Johns Hopkins employs an individual who so clearly has no respect for patients (or even human beings in general). Dr. Timlin may be a fantastic physician, but with the first point of contact being an individual like the JHU Rheumatology receptionist, she is severely jeopardizing the reputation and future of her department.

Great Doctor
I have been a patient of Dr. Timlin for many years and have always had a pleasant experience with her. She has always been kind, informative, and genuinely seems to care about her work. She always asks if I have any questions and takes the time to explain things to me. I have had zero incidents in regards to Lupus since being in her care and I greatly appreciate that.

NOT worth the incompetence!!!
I've been an established patient for over 3 years and dealing with her coordinator is just NOT worth it. The coordinator canceled my appointment without telling me. Then tried to blame me. Then did it AGAIN. She refused to apologize or take responsibility, let alone fix the situation! MORE THAN TWICE! I like Dr. Timlin, but I'm leaving the practice. I have never dealt with such incompetence in my life, and that's saying a lot, because I have about 40 doctors and I see at least one doctor a day. If you're 15 minutes away and can afford to put up with this mess, then go for it. But anything further than that- get ready for an absolute nightmare trying to see this doctor.

Wonderful Doctor!
I have been seeing Dr. Timlin at Johns Hopkins for 8 years now. She is kind, compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and a very brilliant physician! I am very grateful to have her as my doctor. She has treated me as her patient where other doctors have failed and she has given me my life back! I highly recommend her to anyone who has lupus. She explains everything with you and makes sure that you understand all treatment options. She is quick to respond with any questions you have about your health and treatment options after your visit. She treats you like you are a family member and not just a patient. She follows through on your treatment and communicates with other physicians in your care. She stays up to date on new and upcoming treatment options, and she is also a mentor and teacher of medical students. She explains all side effects and possible reactions to medications. I travel to see Dr. Timlin, as I live out of state and she is truly worth the trip to Baltimore for my care.

Amazing!
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Timlin for several years now and she is an excellent doctor specializing in lupus/lupus nephritis. She takes her time, explains everything and answers any questions you may have. She only prescribes medications that pertain to treating lupus and does not hesitate to refer you to other specialists when something out of her scope needs to be addressed. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her patients. She saved my life and I’m so grateful for her!

A joke of a rheumatologist
Dr Timlin is probably one of the worst rheumatologists there is. She has no compassion. She doesn’t listen to her patients and she could care less on how or what you are feeling. She’s quick to refer you to other areas and dismisses to tale signs as your issue is related to something else. She basically said that I had rosacea and needed to see a dermatologist. Then when she looked at my hands, she kept saying I bit my nails, which I don’t and she could care less what my test results were when a complete blood panel was run by my PCP. She is the most unprofessional and rudest doctor I ever met. Save yourself the trouble and don’t go to her. She’s not worth the time of day. Oh, and one more thing, if you did schedule an appointment with her, she would remind you of how many patients she has and what little time she has to discuss your health concerns. She pointed that out in my visit. Her demeanor was so bad that halfway through the visit, I literally got up and walked out.

Doesn't listen, doesn't explain
She has an agenda during an appointment, steam-rolls, doesn't answer questions, is dismissive of your concerns, and - most concerning - says things that aren't true. She's not interested in treating a whole person, only a disease, and when you have more than one issue, she's not interested in being part of a treatment team.

For your health and safety, please avoid Dr Timlin
Please, avoid making an appointment with Dr. Timlin if you truly need to speak with someone in Rheumatology. I waited months for my appointment with her, only to be extremely disappointed. Dr. Timlin provided incorrect information during our visit, failed to give any guidance on next steps, later entered diagnoses into my chart without ever informing me of them, and then didn’t provide any information on how to manage the diagnoses given. Its baffling that Johns Hopkins allow this type of doctor to practice while representing their hospital. Please wait until you can get in with someone else. Certainly don’t travel for an appointment with her. There’s a reason she has openings in her schedule when everyone else in their department doesn’t .. (For the record, thankfully I received the correct diagnosis at a different hospital following my visit with her. I now am getting the help I needed through treating it. On behalf of your health and safety, please avoid Dr Timlin)

Absolutely Terrible, She literally gave up before she started. She referred me to another doctor not even within the same office. After a brief conversation, I realized she was in over her head and could care less if the advise she gave would work. Like one of the previous reviews, she gave conflicting follow-up care instructions with multiple options and basically left it up to me to figure out what to do. Gave no prescriptions or imaging orders for what she suggested I follow. Not sure how I would get these said medications if she didn't prescribe them. Very poor service and would never recommend Hopkins Rheumatology to anybody. I would seek treatment elsewhere. Not sure how they obtain the #1 rating in the country unless they really mean #1 for causing stress/frustration to patients who are in need of care.

Dr. Timlin is one of the most thorough and comprehensive physicians I have ever had. She read through decades of history prior to my first visit and listened intently to my concerns. Through the past 3 years, the ups the downs and any new concerns, Dr. Timlin has been outstanding in monitoring and caring for my health to ensure the treatment plan is working as it should. This woman saved my life and I highly recommend!!

I am so fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Timlin. She is considerate, smart and has dedicated her life to helping her patients. She reviewed nearly two decades of notes and records regarding my lupus diagnosis and history before my first visit in 2016. She listened intently to even the smallest of my concerns and is the first physician that actually rolled up her sleeves, researched and collaborated with other specialties to help me improve a number of underlying issues. She built a brand new treatment plan and with close monitoring and many visits, I feel better than I have in decades. Dr. Timlin gave me my life back and I am eternally grateful.

Horrible Demeanor....When telling her why I came there, she didn't care and told me to wait until she was done with her examination of me. She said that I couldn't be in that much pain like she is inside of my body. I walked out right after that and will never go back to see her or anyone at Johns Hopkins Rheumatology Department because keeping her on staff is an insult to so many patients that she treats that way. She doesn't listen to her patients, it's her way or the highway. No patient should have to be treated like they are a bother or a waste of her time. She never read any of my medical chart information and asked me questions that she had access to if she would have bothered to look at my medical history.
