Dr. Rugo is an excellent oncologist. She reviewed my CT scans and discussed my treatment. She listened to my questions and ordered appropriate follow ups. She was both highly professional and very reassuring. An excellent combination of skills which I find very soothing.

You will not cross paths with anyone better than Dr. Hope Rugo. She is the best I've ever encountered in this field. I'm a Breast Cancer advocate for newly diagnose women. I've seen her add a decade to women who've been told by other doctors they only had a couple of years left. I've seen her stay all hours of the night just to make sure she sees every one of her patients that had been scheduled that day. I've see her educate other doctors that were considered "experts" and "the best" who were using harmful chemo treatments on the women I brought to her. She is God sent and so many lives are depending on her that every second of her time is demanded. If you are annoyed by the long waits or the chaos of the clinic then you are missing the point. She and her staff are fighting the biggest battles of your lives and they are winning. Your battle is not going to be comfortable but her care can not be beaten. Don't be discouraged. If you are a patient of Dr. Rugo you are winning.

Dr Rugo is a world renowned expert on breast cancer, including metastatic breast cancer. Yes, she often runs behind as others have mentioned, but it is because she spends as much time with each person as they need. She is brilliant (that goes without saying) but she is also compassionate. If you have metastatic breast cancer Hope Rugo is who you want to see.

At our first meeting, in listening and speaking to Dr. Rugo, the impression she gave was that my “case” was not important or unusual enough to interest her. She stifled one yawn after another during our meeting. She stuck to her script and did not want to respond to questions. Dr. Rugo failed to give me her recommendation - as promised - about the need for radiation treatment. (She said she wanted to check with the radiologist before doing so.) She never did. At my second appointment with Dr. Rugo, after waiting for well over an hour, I asked a medical assistant (?) how much longer I would have to wait. I was told that it could be quite a while longer. I was asked if I wanted to make another appointment. I said “no”. At that point a nurse practitioner came over to me and said Dr. Rugo would call me that afternoon. She did not call, a nurse did call. Since then, I have spoken to another former patient of Dr. Rugo who had a similar experience.

As a physician, I had to find the best person to take care of my young sister who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr Rugo is the best! She went above and beyond to take care of us. She is knowledgeable, caring, and extremely hard working. I highly recommend her to anyone with breast cancer!

Dr Rugo is an expert in Triple Negative Breast Cancer and she has always been attentive and helpful. I see her every 3 weeks and although sometimes I see the NP for 30 min and Rugo for only 5-10, there are also times when I see both of them for longer. She has spent well over 30 minutes with me when needed and I never feel rushed. I try to keep in mind that while I'm waiting on my appointment, someone else may be spending an hour with her, hearing really terrible news. She's an excellent doctor!

Rugo is a disaster. She is disorganized and loses track of important pieces of information. Her judgement is poor and her recommendations are terrible. She is constantly canceling and rescheduling appointments. If she keeps her appointments, patients wait hours. Her staff is constantly turning over - none stay with her very long.
