Unfriendly and unresponsive staff
I saw Dr McAllister several times for hip pain and found he has a great bedside manner. But, I wouldn't continue seeing him when he said I needed a hip replacement because his MA was unprofessional. She was visibly mad on two visits. For one appointment I arrived at 8:10am to learn my appointment was not until 10:40am. The intake person called back to his office to see if I could be seen and I was told 'yes' and to go wait in the lobby. I waited for 45 mins and then went to the intake person to find out when my appointment was. I finally spoke to a supervisor who said 'They will see you now'. I then waited another 45 mins and the MA was unpleasant to me. I was just asking for clarification as to when my appointment would be. If I had been told that I wouldn't be seen until 10:40 I would have left and come back. I also found a slow response time when I asked a question in My Chart.

The most honest surgeon out there
I went in to see Dr. McAlister after I partially ruptured my achilles tendon. By the books this is a classic surgical procedure. I had already gotten 2 opinions to get surgery by an amazing chiropractor and another orthopedic surgeon. But Im big on trusting my gut instinct so I decided to go see Ian and get a 3rd opinion. We talked for a bit and he could tell that he thinks that I could recover it without surgery due to my high level fitness. I was like AWESOME! and went on my way. I took a non-surgical approach protocol I found online for my achilles tendon, tweaked it to my own parameters for my body and with the help of my chiropractor's protocol and my own tweaking of it I am back to jogging after only 3 months of rehab in which is quite unheard of. Some would say I'm an anomaly but I would say I take everyone with a grain of salt and I trust my gut. I'm so glad I got a 3rd opinion from Ian and would recommend him to anyone that is hesitant about surgery. Thank you so much Ian!
