Dr. Ian Wendel, DO

He was arrogant, rude, uncaring and unprofessional. When I asked if there was anything he could suggest to give me some relief with my back issues prior to my shoulder surgery in mid April, his response was “I am not a magician.” And, apparently, not much of a physician either.

Personally, I was very unhappy with my experience with Dr. Wendell and felt it was a waste of my time and money. The entire appointment felt very dismissive and I do not believe he took my concerns or pain seriously. He completely minimized the pain that I’ve been experiencing for months and insisted there is nothing serious going on based on my xray.. Well this is great news, but any physician knows that an xray does not show everything. His treatment recommendations were to take more breaks at work and to take magnesium for my bedtime pain?…bizarre & really disappointing. Luckily, I ended up getting a second opinion from a well established orthopedist in Morris County and had SUCH a better experience. I had an MRI and found that there is a disc issue that is causing my pain. I’m very grateful to have gotten a second opinion. I would not recommend Dr. Wendell.

Dr. Wendel was able to diagnose the cause of my shoulder pain after reading 2 MRI’s and refer me to a specialist at Morristown Hospital for more in depth treatment.

Dr. Wendel is very professional and easy to understand. He was able to diagnose my condition and offer a solution in a timely manner. After seeing my X-ray, he offered a solution. I had one injection and I’m pain free Thank you, Dr. Wendel

Dr. Wendel is awesome. Very caring, informative and responsive. Truly has his patients best interest at heart.

Dr. Wendell and PA Sidney did clinical exams and had hip X-rays done during my visit. They recommended a steroid injection once I finish an antibiotic for an ear infection and gave me a prescription for physical therapy. After explaining the X-rays showing hip arthritis, Dr. Wendell answered my questions. I especially appreciated their careful consideration of drug interactions. I asked about taking a supplement another doctor had recommended and PA Sidney called me a few hours later to say this would interfere with a blood thinner I already take. Dr. Wendell showed real concern for my breast cancer status. I am so glad my primary care physician referred me to TriCounty Orthopedics!

Excellent patient rapport. Clearly prefers least invasive treatments. Very impressed with clear and concise recommendations and comments.

I would highly recommend Dr. Wendell I had spent the previously two years with a surgeon at another facility that did not use an ultrasound when injecting my shoulder He literally spent 2 minutes on the visit and just blindly injected my shoulder. With Dr Wendel he spends at least 15 minutes guiding the process with the ultrasound the entire time My shoulder has been in much better shape in the past two years My last appointment was in February of this year and lasted until yesterday I highly recommended Dr Wendel as an alternative to surgery, especially since I am 80 years old. He and his assistant were very caring.

I started seeing Dr Wendel for pain management following a work injury he was with premier health then . I followed him to Tri county he is one of the most compassion knowledgeable,doctors I have dealt with he explains everything and not quick to dismiss you always listens to your concerns .

Dr Wendel, was very professional friendly and concern. He took the time explaining about my neck pain and treatment for it. Thank you Dr Wendel for your expertise and care.

I’ve been to Dr Wendel for prior issues, so I knew I would be in good hands for this issue. PT, MRI, then planned medial root branch block for my neck. He listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and he and his staff made a stressful procedure actually enjoyable! I would highly recommend this physician , staff and practice!

Very successful so far

I've had many cortisone shots in my 72 years (spine,knees,heel). I was not looking forward to one in my hip as I was told it would be painful. Well, it was painless. I was shocked. Good, no great job Dr. Wendel!

I have arthritis in both hips. I currently am getting Cortizone shots that are helping me right now instead of getting a hip replacement.! I’m always in and out real quick. He’s always kind and very understanding.!

Dr Wendel is excellent. Diagnosis your problem then starts to determine best course of corrective action. Very thorough, concise and addresses your needs. Highly recommend him.

Dr Wendel is one of the best doctors I have to care for me. He has provided excellent guidance and medical treatment for my arthritic hip as I await when I can get it replaced. He is a compassionate physician and I would recommend him to anyone.

Bizarre. He looked at MRI, script for PT. Went to PT, hurt too much. I called back. Dr. Wendell said six weeks PT, no Epidural. He has Zero compassion for people who are in pain. Will never go back to him or Tri County.

WILL NEVER RETURN. WAITED AN HOUR AND HALF AFTER SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TO BE SEEN. SPENT 1 MINUTE WITH ME. DIAGNOSED ME WITHOUT AN XRAY,CT SCAN OR MRI OF MY SPINAL INJURY. SAID MY INSURANCE WOULDNT COVER CERTAIN TREATMENTS ( WHICH THEY DID), LEFT ME IN 24 HOUR ROUND THE CLOCK EXCRUCIATING PAIN WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PLAN EXCEPT TO SCHEDULE A FOLLOW UP WITH HIM IN A FEW WEEKS. TOLD ME PHYSICAL THERAPY WAS WHAT I NEEDED. LITTLE DID HE KNOW I WAS A TRIATHLETE AND A 30 YEAR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. I DID A FOLLOW UP WITH ANOTHER PHYSCIAN AND IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I MADE. FINALLY GETTING THE TREATMENT I NEED. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND VISIT ANOTHER PHYSICIAN WHO KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. THIS 'DOCTOR' NEEDS TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL.
