He is very smart and funny despite treating kids with cancer. He seems to be always busy with something and yet gives us enough time to ask questions or explain scans or medications. Ms. Lynn and Ms Kathy from his team are also super caring. As much as it is terrifying to have cancer, he will make it easy for you to the best of his resources. I am grateful forever for his care of my daughter

He is fairly knowledgeable in his field and has the vast resources of the Cleveland Clinic to back him up. His manner is somewhat short and appears to have difficulty fielding some pointed questions, as if one ought to be familiar with technical and medical terms and procedures. If one is seeing him likely it is already somewhat nerve racking and scary and he is less than empathic in his bedside manner. Seems to be often concerned with his md fellows to the detriment of patient concerns. At times is verbose and over talks the issues with medical terms that can confuse, especially with youngsters and adults who lack his medical background and experience. He can be somewhat intimidating if one allows him to overpower and talk over one. Not one to be questioned as he believes he is the boss, maybe, maybe not. Not the best bedside manner for the pediatric position he is in, he tries but his culture is holding him back. He is competent but not warm and fuzzy.

fantastic pediatric blood and cancer doctor, kind and smart. explained everything in simple words so all could understand what was going on. great sense of humor about things that look scary. came late but did not rush our visit, and spent enough time to answer all questions. offered several tests options, and then told why one was better than the other. highly recommend

very good lymphoma doctor
Dr. B is very good with my son. He knows everything about lymphooma, and was able to cure my son. We now come to see Dr. B only few times a year, but still stay in touch, and he responds fast via texts or mychart. Although Dr B told us that the lymphoma may still come back, i as the parent trust Dr. B and would not want any other doctor at any other hospital to take care of my child. I know parents of other kids who were treated by Dr B, and they feel the same way about him. Ms Kathy and Ms Lynn from his team are very helpful to handle troubled families.

very grateful
our experience has never been anything but superb. Dr. B is fantastic in any way one could describe him: knowledgeable, patient, attentive to details, thorough with explanations, gentle with bedside exam, and funny when necessary to dissipate distress. our treatment journey will be at least for a couple of years, and we hope not to lose Dr. B. he is definitely a gem in this world of depersonalized telemedicine. I wish our in-room waiting time sometime could be less as he seems to be always multitasking on something else.

We met Dr. B for a second opinion, as doctors at our local hospital were not able to address our issues well enough and fast enough. I must confess, it was a life changing experience. Dr. B explained everything in great details, broke down all the labs so we could understand it, and even reviewed with us xrays and catscans what were done at a prior location. No other doctor ever did this for us. We then discussed treatment options, and Dr. B said that he would want us, the parents, to be his partners in making decisions. This was the most difficult part of the conversation, as we never got that much information about our child''s illness, and we did not know how to feel about this freedom to pick the treatment options for our kid. As our child is doing well now, we are eternally grateful to Dr. B for his patience, expertise, intelligence and BEDSIDE MANNERS. He was the first doctor we wanted to see again! Cleveland Clinic saved our child's life! --grateful mom

Dr Buhtoiarov is an amazingly intelligent and kind dr. My three year old is never afraid to go to her appointments with him! We travel at least 1 hour each way to see him and it is well worth the trip! I would highly recommend him and his office to anyone who has a child with cancer.

Dr. B is the leukemia and lymphoma expert. We are lucky to have Dr. B as a doctor for our child. He is very kind and very generous with his time; he always explains everything in very fine details but simply enough for us to understand the information. Also is very nice with children. We feel Dr. B's caring heart and hands since we met with him.

He is funny, he is nice, he talks to kids and make sure kids understand everything (13 yr old patients comments) Extremely patient and allows for as many questions as you can think of Cant think of enough positive things to say He made something that was very scary easier to understand. Always felt reassured after our meetings with him! The nurses and office staff were kind and very sympathetic. They made our daughter laugh and feel more relaxed during her treatment.

Dr. Buhtoiarov treats my nephew. He is extremely compassionate and very intelligent childhood cancer doctor. There was no visit when we left Dr. Buhtoiarov's clinic with any of the questions being unanswered. Parents of other kids in the waiting area also speak very highly of Dr. B. I am sure Cleveland Clinic rocks because of staff members like Dr. Buhtoiarov. Thank you!
