Horrible
Felt rushed from the beginning, she did not let me explain my health concerns. When she diagnosed me I asked for her to fill out paperwork for disability she told no to follow up with my primary doctor. Very dismissive, didn't do any additional tests needed to confirm the diagnosis. All she did was give me medication and told me to follow up in a month. Didn't explain the diagnosis. She mentioned she was going to send a referral for physical therapy. So I waited over a month and decided to call and turned out she didn't send the referral because she didn't know where to send it. The staff told me that I had to call the office I wanted in order for them to send it. It delayed my care and now taking a whole lot longer to recover. Don't go to her! In the process of getting a new neurologist!

Stay Away
Horrible experience: Dr. Cokgor made major errors re my medical record and had no interest in investigating or resolving. Instead, when I advised her office that my record looks incorrect, she flew out from the back in a rage, berating and spitting insults. She'd ordered an MRI of my arm re peripheral paresthesia, but consult notes oddly referenced hallucinations; problems walking, eating, talking; and skin tag surgery which I've never had. Her: Patients lie all the time about surgeries! Me: You think I'm lying that I've never had that surgery? Her: Yes!!. Was told that brain scan was normal but consult was re arm. It's actually reassuring to read that she does not have the respect of colleagues because her aggressive behavior and baffling statements--like that she doesn't care if my record is wrong, it must have been an IT issue and there's nothing she can do about it--were extremely upsetting. I paid cash for consult and have no diagnosis, accurate record or opinion to show for it.

Not a good experience
Dr Cokgor was extremely rushed. She started tossing around different diagnoses before I could explain my headache history. The diagnoses she suggested made no sense and conflicted with the opinions of the doctors I saw before or afterward. That would be fine if she had listened carefully. But she barely listened at all. I would say she spent no more than seven or eight minutes with me despite the fact that I had a very complex headache history. She never learned about the brain scans I had because she didn’t ask, and didn’t give me time to tell her. Even worse, she used the wrong diagnosis when she submitted a pre-authorization to my insurance company. It took innumerable calls to clear this up. In the end, I gave up and switched to CPMC. One other thing bothered me very much. was fairly polite with me, but was quite rude to her staff. She seemed tense, and the whole experience was unpleasant. I will not go back to her.

I’ve been an in home care manager for 25 years...attending office visits with Dr Cokgor along with my clients. I’ve observed Dr Cokgor to be personable, direct and kind, always respectful. Recently, it was my turn to see a neurologist. I’d been diagnosed by an ENT with BPPV i.e. positional vertigo. Soon after I began having headaches with stroke symptoms. During an ER visit, i had a CAT scan and EKG. I was cleared and went home. I began seeing Dr. Cokgor as her patient. She felt that I may be having variant migraines...wanted to rule out brain tumor and stroke. She ordered an MRI and an echocardiogram. Both were clear. Dr.Cokgor’s initial diagnosis was correct. Dr Cokgor Is a brilliant, extraordinary physician...she’s an excellent diagnostician...thorough, direct and always kind. ...working with her patients as a team, rather than talking down to them...objectifying them. I could not ask for a more professional, brilliant, and personable physician.

I had the extreme misfortune to have this person attend me while I was hospitalized after some some seizures. She not only gave me the wrong meds, but didn't know you can't get a seizure reading UNLESS THE PERSON IS HAVING A SEIZURE,!!! Later, my regular neurologist told me that she was to be disregarded because she has such a bad reputation all over SF and Marin. She was rude, dismissive and unprofessional.

She was my second opinion Doctor...Boy am I glad I saw her. She reduced my meds in half so the side effects were not so difficult, facilitated getting my drivers license reinstated , listened and seemed very smart.
