Dr. James Hoff, MD

Dr Hoff has been our family physician over 30 years. He is very easy to talk to and he actually listens and allows the patient to be an active participant in planning medical care. He solicits out of city experts when needed. He is praised by our Cardiologist at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, for his thoroughness and team consultancy.

Worst doctor ever. He gave me Lipitor, caused severe side effect which he ignored. I quit taking. He refused to examine a cyst; I went to dermatologist who removed it immediately. Hoff refused to prescribe thyroid med, said I didn't need (tho I was taking 2 grain for 45 years) Went to another doctor who tested me and prescribed 2.5 grain thyroid (160 mg). When I had stomach pain, Hoff said pain was all in my mind; went to another doctor and learned I had an ulcer. I have new doctor now.

If there is something out of this physicians purview he will ask for a consult , and out-of- town if necessary. I feel this physician has saved my life. And, I could not hope for better care. He DOES look for "the OUTLIERS" and doesn't provide care based on pre-loaded computer selections. He uses his medical training.

This is a physician who still cares about the patient. He listens, carefully, and we always start with 1) diet and 2) exercise with wellness always the end goal. This physician recently went to MDVIP patient-care based medicine model. However, he did not have to change how well he treated his patients. He was always a 24/7 physician. And treated family.
