Total Knee Replacement Surgery
Dr. Kanellakos performed a total knee replacement using MAKO robotic surgery in Jan. 2024.He was very honest with regard to what to expect post- operatively. Was empathetic with the post- operative pain and helped me through it and the surgery went very well. When I was discharged from the hospital I was using a cane and was walking on my own in less than 10 days. Must also add I was very motivated to walk on my own. I now, have no pain in my knee. I would highly recommend Dr.Kanellakos due to his compassion, excellent care and expertise.

Interesting surgeon
My wife met with Dr. Kanellakos for a consultation today. We both found him clear, compassionate and exactly what one would want in a surgeon. It is clear he is a master of his art and knows all the ins and outs, literally. We look forward to the procedure of a hip replacement in the coming months.

Great for Total Knee Replacements
He did one TKR in 2012 and the other in 2014. Best thing I ever did. Zero problems since. I have recommended at least a dozen other athletes to him and all were extremely happy. He has a very serious personality. The initial recommendation to use him came from someone in the medical device business who said “ if it’s family , use Dr K.”

Do NOT go to this doctor- he treats you like dirt
2 days before my wife's knee surgery, after limping around to get all her pre-operative testing done for a single surgery to remove hardware in her leg and do a total knee replacement, the doctor totally changed the plan and said he was now doing it in 2 surgeries, claiming he never said he would do it one surgery (a lie). She had been totally cleared, including by a Plastic Surgeon for her scarred skin, but he called this surgeon and convinced him otherwise. Now she would have an even less stable leg without the hardware for 3 months, having already fallen multiple times. When we questioned him, he was condescending, arrogant and nasty, shouting at her 'why can't you understand this? Is it too complicated for you?' He had absolutely no compassion for her and she had 'no right to question his plan.' We obviously canceled her surgery immediately. We will find someone who treats their patients in a compassionate manner. I was a Family Doctor and would never treat my patients this way.

Misdiagnosis and Lack of care
Dr Kanellakos misdiagnosed an Achilles rupture that another doctor diagnosed immediately. His misdiagnosis caused me to (at his recommendation) walk around for weeks on it. The worst part is he was so confident in his diagnosis and was so glib and curt when I asked questions. My advice is to not go to him with any lower leg or ankle issues. The doctors I have seen since cannot believe he missed what was an easy diagnosis, which ultimate set me back weeks and possibly worse. I'm so grateful that I listened to my intuition and saw someone else. Terrible service and in my opinion, terrible doctor.

Great surgeon, great staff
Dr. Kannelokas did a total knee replacement using MAKO robotic surgery. The entire process went much better than I imagined. His office staff was so efficient and made the pre-surgery process go so smoothly, even though I tested positive for COVID three days before the surgery and I had to reschedule. They were always available to answer questions and they called me every step of the way to insure my pre-admission testing was being done properly. The surgery went well and I experienced very little pain. I was in the hospital for 2 days and Dr. Kannelokas personally visited me every day. His assistant also visited me each day. When I left the hospital everything I needed was taken care of. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. One of my friends had a knee replacement a week before I did (not with Dr. K) and she spent almost a week in the hospital and has been in a rehab facility since then. I was up and about the next day. I highly recommend Dr. Kannelokas.

Dr. James Kanellakos is a wonderful doctor, very friendly and pleasant, precise and no nonsense; it is a pleasure to see him. He is very quick in his examination and a straight shooter. I had a right knee issue when biking, he fixed it, I had a rotator cuff issue due to a motorcycle accident, and he fixed it with a no fuss surgery. I am totally satisfied; he has great bedside manners, very easy to work with, his office staff is equally great to work with. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Kanellakos to everyone.

Dr. Kanellakos performed a hip replacement on me back on October 21, 2019. Prior to my hip replacement, I lived a life of pain however, since my hip replacement I have experienced no pain and Dr. Kanellakos has given me my life back. From the time that I first saw Dr. K. , he and his staff were professional, knowledgeable. compassionate and made everything easy. I never thought that I would be able to walk without pain and live a quality life and enjoying it. No problems, no complications an excellent surgeon and great follow up.

Dr. Kanellakos is just a fantastic Doctor. We discussed options about an issue with my hip and came to there conclusion that replacement was the best option, and he did a great job. So much so that he has also repaired a torn meniscus for me. Highly recommended!

Dr. Kanellakos and his assistants and staff have all given me excellent care and services at every appointment and procedure. I first met him when he set my son's broken arm several years ago. I went to him when I was having hip pain, and finally took his advice to get a total hip replacement. He explained everything clearly and everything went smoothly and as planned, if not better! I only wish I had done it sooner!

Dr. Kanellakos replaced my right hip four months ago. As I professional gardener, I lead a physically active life, and I'm happy to say that the recovery was very much as he predicted, and the new hip has allowed me to return to my work with an ease and comfort I haven't had in years. Thank you!

Dr Kanellakos was my surgeon for both hip replacements. Everything was carefully planned and orchestrated by his office and Morristown Medical Center. I can't say enough about how smoothly everything went. Dr. Kanellakos is attentive, responsive to questions and easy to interact with. I can only assume his skills are excellent as both my new hips are excellent!

misdiagnosis about 2 years ago. I had torn labrum of the hip is what I found out recently. He suggested I had a flexor injury and to rest it. He did not recommend an MRI.. after reading about the hip and learning what doctors should do, it surprises me that this guy could make such a mistake.
