Amazing surgeon
I traveled 3 hours to have Dr. Loging replace my right knee after a recommendation from a trusted friend. Well worth the trip. He is a compassionate man of faith and an excellent surgeon. His staff is pleasant and professional. I highly recommend Dr. James Loging!

Lies About Resurfacing vs THR
Telehealth
I would never have surgery with a doctor who MISINFORMS people about the differences between Total Hip Replacement and Hip Resurfacing. He doesn't tell people that the less invasive anterior approach IS ABSOLUTELY done by many surgeons in Resurfacing. Why does he lie? He has YouTube videos with the comments turned off....why? So nobody can tell the truth about what he is misinforming people about? Fact is that Hip Resurfacing is a more complicated surgery for the surgeon, requires additional training and certification and the surgery takes approximately 30 minutes longer. So that is additional time and money spent to get certified for a longer surgery technique that pays the surgeon the same. Thus many surgeons won't do it as a 'business decision.' He lies about the how long Resurfacing lasts, claiming it's only 10 years??? Resurfacing has had many pro athletes return to compete at the highest level, something THR can't say for a single person EVER. Do your research! PLEASE!

This guy
I would give this doctor 1000 stars if I could. He is an incredible human being and doctor. He’s incredibly talented at many things, whether it be as a surgeon, photography, or skin care. He did a hip replacement when no one else would and he gave me my life back. I am a forever fan.

My sister had osteoarthritis of her hip. She was in such agony that she couldn't sit for very long. She spent Thanksgiving at my house standing behind the couch and hanging over it in a 90 degree position. That was the only way she could get relief. This went on for months. She was overweight, but otherwise healthy, however, no other orthopaedic surgeons would perform surgery, they just kept harping on her to lose weight; hard to do when you can't move (and she did try with little success). Dr. Alaric Van Dam told her about Dr. Loging and anterior hip replacements so she consulted him. He had no qualms about doing surgery on her. Within 2 months, she was back to doing the thing she loved the most......bowling! She went from 10/10 pain to little or none in two months. I think she has a high pain threshhold but to us he hung the moon and changed her life.

In addition to being skilled, Dr. Loging is a caring physician. My case was difficult, but my recovery and rehab has gone better than I expected. So glad I chose Dr. Loging to do my surgery.

Knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive
Went to see him about elbow and shoulder pain. His office was very organized and he had x-ray machines there and had the data before he saw me. He listened and spent time with me, yet kept the visit moving. Great staff!

The best
Dr. Loging is the best around. I have gone to many Ortho docs trying to get my hips better. He has been the first one to succeed with improving my situation. He is smart, kind, and skilled. I drive about an hour away from my home just to see him. I highly recommend his skills no matter what your ortho needs are.

My husband had a visit with Dr. Loging on May 21 for a final check of his left knee replacement surgery. While there we scheduled his right knee replacement. Dr. Loging has replaced both my husbands hip and in September it will be both his knees. He has replaced my right knee and done carpal tunnel surgery on both my hands. There is no one else we will go to. He is the best orthopedic surgeon around. The wait time was 10 minutes to see him and another 13 minutes in the room. His staff is very professional and super nice.

No help with after hours call. Told he didn't think the injection done in their office was causing my husbands problem. Was told you can go to the ER if you want to, but he didn't feel like his excruciating headache was from the injection. Long story short my husband spent 11 days in hospital. And has been out of work for over 2 months.

My primary care doctor wanted me to see Dr. Loging with left hip pain I cannot thank her enough, Dr. Loging has to to be one of a kind he did a total hip replacement on me and the professionalism of he and his staff was the best, and Newberry Hospital staff were also, he prayed with me before surgery and that was a great comfort to me as anxiety was a problem, my husband and I could not believe that it has gone so well, but that is tribute to what a great and caring doctor he is.
