Went in with concerns about severe arm pain lasting over a year. Despite explaining my pain and how it's prevented me from performing the majority of daily tasks (I can't even carry a glass of water without pain!). My muscles have atrophied from how little I'm able to use my arm due to the pain. Dr. Matiko completely IGNORED everything I said about how long my pain was lasting, its severity and my inactivity. I was given no options, no treatment, and was literally told to "stop doing what makes it hurt", as if I hadn't already been doing that for a year already, like I described. Waited three months for this appointment and I am EXTREMELY disappointed.

I have never meet or talked to Dr. Matiko, he did however perform trauma surgery on my hand. If I could have had a conversation with him I may have had an opportunity to be included in how my hand works for the rest of my life. For that matter if anyone at Arrowhead Regional would have given me any chance to have input - arrived at 6:00 pm and surgery in the next day at 10:00 am ? - So weeks later on to Kaiser ( which is where I asked to go several times ? ) to consult with my surgeon on hand.

I felt that he ignored my concerns and did not address my needs for pain management especially during a time when I had to stop taking my NSAID for 10 days in preparation for a procedure. I had to go to another physician to get alternative pain medication approval for my back pain. I found his manner be rude and disrespectful on our last visit, he did not respect my privacy and left the exam room door open during my consultation with him so that anyone could walk by and hear our discussion

Dr. Matiko is very knowledgeable and I trust his opinion completely. He has little bedside manner, but that is not important to me. Although I really like Dr. Matiko and feel he is an extremely competent doctor and surgeon, I will be going elsewhere because the length of time to get an appointment to see him is unreasonable under most circumstances. I always have to wait at least 3 months. If one only needs to find a surgeon, maybe one could wait. If one is in pain or needs treatment, forget it.

Information not clear or complete when discussing medical issues. Wait is typically long. Does not spend much time w/this patient. Orders/referrals/medical equipment very slow. I have waited over a year for medically necessary wrist braces, and am still waiting...
