Saved My Finger
Dr. Schlenker performed surgery on my finger and hand in 1992 and again on my finger in 1993. I can honestly say that after 32 years since my surgery, I have 99% mobility and all feeling came back as well....everything works great! I also want to mention that my results didn't happen overnight. It took years of continually working with my hand and finger to break up scar tissue that constantly built up, doing lots of stretching exercises over the years. Dealing with lots of pain & aches and waiting for the nerves to hopefully grow back so the numb-hypersensitive feeling would go away and my finger would go back to normal, which it eventually did.

I sliced open my hand after collapsing it on a glass bottle, bracing a fall. This was 26 years ago and my recovery has been astounding. My nerves still have numbness, which is to be expected given the deep and long wound (sliced all but couple of tendons, artery, etc), but I'm able to do vast majority of tasks with my right hand. Take heart to those that have had difficulty, the recovery is long (mine, a year) but part of what happens with such an integral part of the body. Thank you Dr. Schlenker - can't say it enough.

In 2000 Dr Schlenker corrected my Keinsbock disease ( which he had to shorten my radial ) Prior to the surgery I had extreme pain for years and was losing strength and grip of my right hand. The surgery went beautifully and in 2017 I am still without pain and pleased with his surgical skills. I no longer live in IL but thought if I had need for further surgery I would certainly consider flying in to have him treat an issue. I also found Dr Schlenker was compassionate and I never felt rushed

4 years ago I had a tendon surgery done on my hand. I accidentally cut open my thumb while cutting vegetables. 4 years after the surgery I am dealing with serious pain due to the surgery. Before doing any operation please consider it very carefully.

I would have to write an essay for three visits that were unproductive. I had fallen (I'm 59) and he told me he couldn't do anything for me After our first appointment, to which I had brought my husband to sit with me, even hubby said, when we were home, that I should see another doctor and get another opinion. Good luck getting an idea how to take care of yourself. Dr. and staff just make sure you have insurance.
