Dr. James Shaya, MD

Dr. Shaya may be a good doctor for others but he certainly doesn’t work well for us. As new parents, we have greater expectations of a doctor who will take the time to explain what they’re doing and why when it comes to examining our newborn so that we can be better educated. We expected a doctor who is inquisitive and is unafraid to ask us questions besides, “Do you have any questions?”, over and over again. We expected to be given resources for newborn parents based on our responses and interactions with baby. Dr. Shaya doesn’t meet any of these expectations. Save yourself some time and don’t waste a doctor’s visit on child with him.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Shaya for my sons first appointment with him, a 3 year well visit. He came in and never even acknowledged my son, the entire visit he didn’t say a word to him. The visit itself lasted maybe 3 minutes, during that time he looked at a clip board and told me that my son should eat a balanced diet and should start to count. When he did examine him he told me to have him lay down, when I asked if my son could sit while he listened to his heart and lungs he just said no and then proceeded to hold my son down by his head and when he began to cry he told me to hold his arms down. I’m a nurse and have worked closely with doctors during my entire career and I have never seen a doctor act this way, especially with a pediatric patient. I would like to say that the office staff seems to be wonderful and every other person I encountered during my visit was great.

Wonderful doctor! He is an awesome doctor to all three of my grown children! My youngest is very sad to have to find a adult doctor. I have had some serious & scary medical situations, and his medical advise was always spot on!

Wonderful Doctor. He knows exactly whats wrong and will tell you instantly. Yes, he does prescribe antibiotics more over Sundar, but even though Sundar is wonderful, I've had to go back later in the week with Sundar to eventually get antibiotics as it never let up. Shaya will prescribe preemptively , and I've also been told to wait a few days before starting to see if symptoms go down/away. Saves me another $20 copay visit, and I have the $5 antibiotics on hand. He is wonderful with children!

He is an amazing doctor! He will do whatever it takes to do what is best for your child! He will not sugarcoat what needs to be said. If you only want to be told what you want to hear he is not the doctor for you. He always goes above and beyond and is amazing when your child really needs a doctor. He is at his best when your child is at their worse! Amazing under pressure, in a hospital setting he will get you the answers you need! Once his patient - always his patient!

Does not take concerns seriously. Does not do standard procedures/checks during well or sick visits. Always seems loopy.
