Great bedside manner and very patient with his pat
He took like an hour explaining what was wrong with me and how to best repair my heart. He came every day I was in the hospital even though his NPs came as well. The surgery was a success and I think he is a fantastic surgeon!!!

This man saved my husbands life. An aortic dissection almost ended my husbands life but Dr. Zellner’s experience, education and skilled hands prevented that from happening. I’m forever grateful. May god bless this man everyday.

Heart Filled with Gold
Yesterday, I was in the ED at Memorial with my mother and this amazing doctor and staff had so much empathy and sympathy for us as a family. The security guard helped us out so much and when it was her time to go they stood with us the whole time making sure we was okay. Dr. Zellner made sure everyone knew the truth on what was going to happen and moved with so much grace. Thank You for that ! You truly are a person who gives us hope that we have true MDs that actually care about the people.

I would give him a zero if that was an option. He caused the death of my sister. He preformed open heart surgery with a valve repair. 2 weeks after surgery developed pain in her back, she had gotten staff infection from the surgery. Had to be opened up again but did not open up the chest bone again. Placed a wound vac in her chest for 6 weeks having to go 2 times a week to his office to have it changed with no anesthesia (very painful). Then after all that was done and she was sewed back up and they took off the antibiotics within 2 weeks she was back in the hospital again. Staff infection was back and now it was all through her body and had caused small strokes and destroyed her heart valve. All because he assured us the first time that he didn’t need to crack her chest open and clean the staff out from under her chest bone. Had he done it right the first time she would still be with us. He rarely ever came to see her in the hospital and did not even reach out to us when she died.

I was a freshman in highschool, who was fortunate enough to rarely even catch a cold. I was like a lot of kids, into sports playing football, baseball, basketball and golf. I was always at some practice. During my freshman year of baseball, I was lucky enough to start at shortstop with varsity as the only underclassmen. Yeah, a little bragging there but also, I wasnt letting anything take that away, til one day before a game started, grabbing a drink it felt like I was stabbed. I got dizzy, I had to take short short breaths and to bend over was horrible pain. Not knowing what it was, but also scared of losing my spot, I didnt speak up and I played thru it. A couple of days later, it went away for a week but it happened again. I did this dance for about 6 months til it almost killed me when I finally spoke up to my parents. I had blisters on my lungs that just spontaneously collapsed. I was terrified. Dr. Zellner saved my life then 17 years later, saved my fathers.

Dr. Zellner repaired tricuspid valve; repair instead of replacement was exactly what I was hoping for. 5 days post-op So far, I’m satisfied with his work on my heart. However, he has failed at making sure my pain was managed appropriately. Rather than educating himself on the medication I was currently on that would hinder my pain management, he passed the responsibility of my pain management to others who can't assist me. Being discharged without pain meds after open heart surgery

Dr. Zellner performed cardiac bypass surgery on my husband in September of 2000. He is still doing great after nearly 18 years. (The surgery was actually done late in the day which caused some concern at the time.) We really appreciate Dr. James Zellner!

Was diagnosed with cancer in my right lung in July 2015. Went to Dr Zellner he sat down explained all the surgical options depending on if cancer was outside the lung or just on the inside. He answered all my questions, set up my surgery for the nect week . Surgery went great they let my family know every 15 minutes how o was doing . Went home 3 days later. I thank God that I met this man. He has a great staff and caring office workers would recommend him to any one needing surgery
