My cardiolgest in 2004
Absolutely loved the guy. Did my stent, followed up and no issues for 20 years. Stent is still in place. He also had great bedside manors. We became friends until he retired 20 years later. Great Doctor!

My husband almost died because Dr. Akhtar missed seeing a blockage in main heart artery. Thankfully, the chief cardiologist at Banner stepped in and did the surgery. My husband needed several stents. Also, Dr. Akhtar never followed up, showed up late for appointments in the hospital and was difficult to understand.

Always wait an entire hour or more past the scheduled appointment time before being seen by this doctor.

Returning patient; arrived 1/2 hour early to fill out paperwork; 20 minutes past appointment time (not bad) was weighed, blood pressure checked and put into a windowless room. 1 hour and 15 minutes later I walked out. In that 1 hour and 15 minutes no-one opened the door once, A.) to tell me the doctor was running late, B.) see if I needed more magazines, or C.) was I still in there.

We waited over 3hrs to see him and once we did, he couldn't give us any answers whatsoever! He mumbled during part of his answers ,repeated questions after rcving his answer, answered a phone call on his cell without politely excusing himself after waiting, never bothered to actually place my sister on any medication after her 3rd appt to help with the palpations that where painful for her. He was beyond rude!!! I will never see this man again or suggest anyone to see him!
