Misdiagnosis led to losing 3/4 of tongue
My son saw him for extreme jaw and throat pain in May 2023. Diagnoses of TMJ. Sent to PT. Pain worsened and he started getting a burning feeling on tongue. Went back and still said TMJ because he was young and never used any tobacco before. Went months on PT and thinking TMJ. Got an ulcer on tongue and when I saw his tongue and how distraught he was from pain, we went to hospital to get a cat scan where they found a mass lesion and i emmediately got him in to see saw my ENT and quickly diagnosed tongue cancer and sent him to UMD. 3 weeks later, had surgery because it was super aggressive. If the doctor listened to my son, really listened, he may not have lost so much of his tongue and gone through so much pain waiting to be diagnosed. He was hospitalized before surgery because he couldn't tolerate the pain anymore. If you are young and have a feeling something is serious....advocate and don't go here.

infected and inflamed parotid gland biopsy
I saw him for an infected parotid gland. He did a fine needle biopsy and followed up three weeks later. VERY THOROUGH explanations and listened to me carefully. The infection resolved itself after the procedure so he recommended we wait and watch this as a surgery to remove the gland is quite complex. I found him to be very personable and well-spoken. He's now my ENT.

Kind and caring doctor
Dr. Tompkins is a fantastic physician. He recently performed my salivary gland biopsy. He has a great bedside manner, and thoroughly explained everything about the procedure beforehand. Dr. Tompkins also provided prompt communication and follow up on results and even fit me in for a follow up appointment even though there was no openings. Will return to him in the future for any other ENT needs.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Thompkins. I have gone to Dr. Jared Thompkins two times and he helped me with my sinus problems. Since I have hearing problems his staff tested me, and they recommended a Cochlear implant. Dr. Thompkins even called the place that puts in the Cochlear implants, then he called me to let me know, and they called me to set up an appointment. Just great!

Went to see him for a balloon procedure to clear severe eustachian tube dysfuction. He said let's try tubes first, put them in during the first office visit and fixed the problem. Very positive -- a pleasure to have seen him.
