Excellent surgeon
Dr Ko has done a fantastic job decompressing the nerves in my feet and legs. I was struggling to walk 3.5 years ago. I had surgery for a dead bone with another doctor. That went well but I was still in a lot of pain. We did scans and Ultrasound. We found that I had Morton neuromas, tarsal tunnel syndrome and peroneal nerve compression. The nerve compression was far along. It required 6 different surgeries. I have been able to walk in relative comfort. I can walk roughly 3 miles a day. I am hoping the final surgery will allow me to hike again.I highly recommend Dr. Ko. He is an excellent surgeon.

Excellence defined!
Dr. Ko is a premier professional who happens to be the best hand surgeon ever. Thorough, precise in communications, surrounded by compassionate and extremely competent staff, like Caroline; Dr. Ko has been a “cherry” to my shoulder anthroplasty radial nerve compression sundae experience at NM. This extraordinary team has a talented touch that exceeds all expectations. Can you tell I’m a fan?!!

Great Consultation
I was very impressed with Dr. Ko and the time and expertise he shared with me. He brought his team with him and listened, looked me in the eye and was very respectful to everyone and took in all thoughts and ideas. Felt very confident with path forward with him and Northwestern Hospital. Dave Breen

Lg kidney transplant guy
I knew immediately this Dr was at top of his profession. He brought a transcript person to take exacting notes, a very complete hands on examination and took time to answer ALlL questions. In today’s medical professional climate of waiting over a year for an appt or still waiting for a resident( gee thanks ). If you need a trusted medical specialist, consider yourself a lottery winner because you have the best of the very best treating you.

Unprofessional office management
I was referred to Dr. Ko from the Northwestern Medical Emergency specialist for a deep cut to the hand which required surgical repair. Went to initial appointment with Dr. Ko and an Ultra Sound visit after that. I was told I needed surgery soon based on those results, but next appointment with Dr. Ko was almost 2 months later. That appointment was suddenly missing from MyChart, and after calling to ask about it was simply told he would not be in the office on day of my long awaited 2nd visit. Office kept me on hold while they tried to figure it out. Second person said she called me twice, but I found no evidence of that. She made it my problem and my fault. She did not try to reschedule or apologize. I would have loved to continue with Dr. Ko, but that experience made it clear I had there was no value in working with me.

Bad Experience
After waiting months to see Dr. Ko finally saw him - I was told previously that I had Nerve damage that I got from a surgery over a year ago that I was trying to find someone to repair this and was referred to Dr Ko - at the visit he acted so puzzled - he ordered a couple tests when they came back ok he did nothing more in-depth to find where the damage was even after I asked - then was told that he didn’t want to help me or figure any more - he was too interested in traveling to even answer all the many questions I had - he wouldn’t even write a Summary of our visit -didn’t want to waste his time - I’m still struggling my life is still at a standstill - Don’t go to him if you’ve had nerve damage from a previous surgery - he won’t help.

Dr. Ko was professional and thorough and took the time to listen to my concerns. I felt validated and not judged, which is refreshing when you have dealt with chronic issues in which, at times, you feel like no one knows what to do with you. He was prepared and reviewed my history before coming in and ordered appropriate tests. My condition is somewhat of an anomaly and often overlooked, so coming to see him was my last attempt to find answers. I've worked in the field for 23 years and understand the pressures we providers face daily and it is always nice to meet one who cares.

Dupuytren’s Contracture
I was treated for this condition in my left hand 8 years ago. My condition worsened. Dr Ko spent considerable time assessing and documenting my condition. He recommended Xiaflex as did my previous Doctor. However, Dr Ko used a local anesthetic which greatly reduced the pain of the injection. He also participated in a study in conjunction with Stanford that found that waiting 5 days instead of 1 to stretch the fingers produces a better outcome. I highly recommend Dr Ko.

Highly Recommended!
Dr. Ko is very knowledgeable, personable, attentive, and overall helpful. I saw him concerning a differential diagnosis for potential Thorasic Outlet Syndrome (as he is a specialist for the condition). After over two years of suffering I feel as if I may actually have resolution to my symptoms (although I have yet to undertake surgery, but I am scheduled). I am thankful to once again have a positive outlook concerning my symptoms (of course this depends greatly on the outcome of surgery). Dr. Ko is great as a physician! Time will tell where exactly I will rate him as a surgeon… I have the utmost confidence in him from what I have seen/experienced thus far though!
