Dr. Muir has always looked for ways to reduce my epilepsy problems. Since he is the head of Hoag Neurosciences department his skills are very good.

Seems cold, scripted, low key and disinterested in me as a person.

I went for sleep issues. Dr. Muir was horrible at establishing rapport and offered very little help. My husband and I both wanted to walk out of the appointment, but kept hoping we would gain some help. There was none! He was not clear. He was not curious. He was not kind. Don’t waste your time or money; go see someone else.

It took awhile to get the appointment on the books. I had my first appointment for a sleep study consultation. The office staff was very friendly. I only sat in the waiting room for less than 5 minutes before being brought back and saw the doctor as soon as my vitals were taken. Dr. Muir was very courteous and professional. He didn't seem rushed and spent time explaining everything and going over my history.

By far the most difficult office I have ever dealt with. I guarantee you will get stuck on hold for a long time every time, not have calls returned, nobody knows anything, etc... It was literally easier to drive to their office to speak with someone in person than it was to call. Then when I walked up they would say "well you could've just called sir." I honestly don't know what they really do over there. Don't say I didn't warn you...

A year ago, I was referred to Dr. Muir due to the onset of daily migraines. He walked in, took one look at me, told me that I needed to lose weight and offered little else. Yes, I need to lose weight but I had lost some weight before the onset so that wasn't what triggered it. Luckily, we were transferred to NorCal. Stanford Neurology was able to treat the migraines. Now, I am exercising and losing weight because I no longer want to spend my days in a dark, quiet room.
