Dismissive and unprofessional
Bad from start to finish! He was irritated when I told him I needed a full body check, which I had mentioned both when making the appt and to the nurse to asked pre-screening questions. But wasn't given a gown to change into. He then proceeded to use air quotes when describing the main condition I came in for. Said I was to blame even though I've been dealing with it for 10years! He didn't listen to a thing I said and clearly hadn't read any of the information I had in my questionnaire. Then came the full body check, which was laughable. I have family history of skin cancer and had basal cells removed myself. He barely even looked, definitely didn't check my scalp. Considering he's never seen me, a more thorough check should be warranted. Guess he just wants to be a cosmetic injectables doc because he was uninterested in an actual derm issue or full body scan!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Altman. He took his time, listened to my concerns, and provided successful treatment as needed. There was no wait, I was on time and so was he. I would go back again if needed without hesitation.

Be careful with Dr. Altman and Mercy Health! Their billings are outrageous. $400 for a 15 minute outpatient skin exam (they billed me for a 30-44 minute visit and said it is based on the time you check in even though I sat in the waiting room and the exam room for 20 minutes). Another $464 for freezing a lesion. Of course there was no mention of the cost of freezing the lesion before it was done. I have had skin exams every year and never experienced prices even close to this. If you have a deductible to meet you will be paying this yourself. Shop around. There are better and more reasonble doctors out there.

I was referred to Dr. Altman by my primary care physician for a FULL BODY EXAM. Given my family history of skin cancer and recent changes to many markings on my body. I told him just that, as well as about the multiple markings that have changed in color, size, shape and some that are even itchy. He glanced over my arms, chest, abdomen and back. And then told me to come back in two years for a check - BUT TO COME BACK IF ANY CHANGES, and that if anything were removed it would be cosmetic. THEN on my office note proceeded to say how he did a full, Thorough check on my scalp, legs, ears, nails, butt, and other areas - which is a COMPLETE LIE. Other notes he made included wrong location of said spots and incorrect symptoms. I do NOT feel comfortable with this visit. My time in the waiting room was longer than my five minute visit with him. I cannot wait to go for my second opinion with another physician. I would never recommend this man - not even to an enemy.

I HAVE KNOWN Jeffrey Altman FOR MANY YEARS. I JUST HAD AN APPOINTMENT ON FRIDAY SEPT.25TH. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO HIM AGAIN. I WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A FULL BODY SCAN AS MY INTERNIST AND PLASTIC SURGEON TOLD ME I NEEDED ONE. I HAVE BEEN TO JEFFREY BEFORE BUT THIS WAS A TERRIBLE VISIT. HE HARDLY CHECKED ME OVER. CHECKED A FEW SPOTS, NEVER TOOK ANY NEW MEDICAL PROBLEMS AS I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN 3 YEARS... ALL OLD INFO... I GAVE THE NURSE MY NEW MEDICAL LIST, WHICH I TAKE A LOT OF MEDS NOW AND IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO KNOW. NEVER TOOK MY BLOOD PRESSURE OR ANYTHING. WHEN THEY GAVE ME A REPORT FOR MY VISIT, THEY EVER CHANGED MY MEDS AND DIDN'T HAVE MY MEDS I AM ALLERGIC TO. I KNOW I HAVE A LOT OF SUN DAMAGE BUT I ALSO HAVE SOME OTHER SUSPICIOUS THINGS . I HAD A BASAL CELL CARCINOMA ON MY LEG REMOVED WHICH WAS CANCEROUS BY DR. SZCZERBA (PLASTIC SURGEON).. HE WAS CONCERNED THAT I HAVE A FULL BODY SCAN AS HE THOUGHT IT WAS NECESSARY. I NEED TO SEE ANOTHER DERMO.BUT WOULD HAVE TO PAY MORE.

I saw Dr. Altman for the first time a little over a year ago for a routine preventative check of my skin and a few moles I was concerned about in particular. I was MOST FAVORABLY IMPRESSED with Dr. Altman!!! He was not just professional and competent and right on time (all extremely important) but he was also a most genuinely nice care provider!!! First, before the exam, he stopped and listened to me and my concerns. He looked me right in the eye and talked to me. And not like "in one ear and out the other" but rather genuinely listened to me and validated my concerns. Once my exam was finished, Dr. Altman stopped what he was doing, looked me in the eye again (love that) and talked directly to me about what he saw - versus while he was distracted looking at my back or typing case notes on a computer screen while I was getting dressed or whatever. How utterly refreshing!!! He carefully explained what was going on with my skin and moles - and what wasn't. I have a bit of sun d

If I could give a 0 star review I would. This doctor does not care about his patients, seems too busy, and seems as though he is only there to collect a paycheck. He dismisses what you say and does not listen. He does not care about your history like an actual professional should. He does not listen and if you try to speak up, he will talk over you. Also if you mention a kind of treatment just because you have questions he will just give you that without saying whether he would have chosen that. Because then he doesn't have to do his job of designing a remedy for you. Do not pay money to see this doctor. I wouldn't see him even if it was free with my insurance. Don't waste a visit or your free time. See someone who actually cares.

Kind of dismissive at first. Like I was just some hysterical woman. I had an itchy and painful rash that was ruining my life for a year. I had to get a bit loud with him to emphasize the fact that I wasn't over exaggerating my symptoms. (Which to be fair, were mild that day.) I think he got the point and from then on, everything was fine.

I used to see Dr. Altman in the past and thought he was great. Several years later I had an issue and Dr. Altman had relocated so I went to several different dermatologists. My issue continued so I found Dr. Altman. He spends a lot of time with you listening. He does a complete and thorough exam and gave me three options. He is a real person and is easy to talk to. Dr. Altman was well worth the extra time it took to get to his new location. I very highly recommend him!

I've seen several doctors and dermatologist regarding an ongoing cystic issue in my armpit. I have to say that Dr. Altman gave the best advice out of all of them. He took the time to chat for 15 minutes with me regarding all the possible skin conditions that could be causing it, their symptoms and treatments that I can try. Most other doctors give me one opinion and tell me I should either drain or cut it out. I've had all that done. Dr. Altman was the most thorough of anyone.

I am a 19 year old female with an autoimmune disease. I went to Dr. Altman to check out a rash. Aside from acting extremely dismissive of my concerns, he also made rude comments. He told me that my "hands are not very womanly" and when he asked what I do and I responded I work at a barn, he remarked "I was wondering where that stench was coming from". He asked about my health history and in response to my answer said "Oh...you actually sound educated". I was disappointed by his crass behavior.

Dr. Altman is patient friendly. He takes the time to explain current research as he makes his recommendations for treatment and also spends time listening to you as a patient. As a result you feel you are working together with the treatment plan. Each time is a memorable experience. I have been with him a long time and appreciate all he has done for me.
