Dr. Douglass is a caring, insightful, and excellent gastroenterologist! I have had Crohn's disease for about 43 years and have never received better support and care than what I am getting from Dr. Douglass. He is a great doctor.

Gall stones blocking bile duct
I needed gall stones removed ASAP. I was in the emergency room on Wednesday, my doctors office Thursday who obtained an appointment for me on Friday and the procedure was done the following Monday afternoon. The whole situation was over and completed in five star fashion!

Colonoscopy consult
Dr. Douglass was thorough in explaining the process and what would be happening. He made sure he had a list of my medications and asked about ones that I hadn't mentioned but were on my chart. He seemed calm and unrushed and answered my questions.

Extremely thorough and very kind!
Dr. Douglass listened to my many symptoms with intention and care. He took thorough notes of my history. He offered some ideas and made a comprehensive plan for testing and even mentioned things that other G.I. Drs haven’t . I never felt rushed and for the first time in a long time, even hopeful.

Very thorough
The online visit was on time and was not rushed. Dr. Douglas answered all of .y questions and I could tell that he had researched my medical history prior to our meeting and had questions for me about how it impacted my procedure I was going to have.

Dr. Douglass is friendly and knowledgeable and explains things well. I don't like that when you go to the clinic to have a procedure done, you can hear all the conversations going on with other patients in the adjoining cubicles, and so I assume mine can be heard as well. Doesn't make it seem very private!

I question his competence. He wouldn't listen to me. I ask for labs to test my stomach acid, enzymes, and thyroid, or whatever has been causing me to loose 30 pounds over the last few years. He insisted I get a colonoscopy. Interestingly enough he works at a colonoscopy clinic. I explained how painful it had been a few months before when I tried to prep, but wasn't successful. He still insisted on a colonoscopy. So I scheduled a procedure, but after thinking about it, I canceled. Dr. Douglass personally called my house and told me to get a colonoscopy. When I refused, that ended our relationship....Then he sent me a bill for $187 dollars. I sent him a letter explaining that I felt I had been refused treatment, and I didn't feel it was OK to charge me for refusing to treat me. He already received $400 from medicare. I ask him to call me so we could discuss it. Instead he sent it to collections.

While the doctor's personality is nice and kind, this doesn't speak at all to the competence of his practice. Besides not being able to give me any relief of my ulcerative proctitis with effective medicine, I don't believe Dr. Douglass has the experience in this field to properly diagnose the right course of intervention. In addition, you will need to wait 6 months per visit as for some reason or another he is never available. And scheduling is nearly impossible with hold times above 12 min.
