UNPROFESSIONAL MD
As per all the reviews listed on here everything said about this doctor is accurate. No sympathy, empathy for patients. Its saddens me to see that this type of doctor is place in such a high acuity place like the emergency department. My mom waited 4 hours to be seen for him to disregard all her feelings and symptoms in 2 minutes. It's a shame that St. Joseph hospital continues to allow this type of behavior from such an arrogant person.

WORST DR. EVER !!!!!! REQUEST ANOTHER ONE
Rude, arrogant, & not mindful in anyway. I did not want to argue at my visit with him bc his temper and listening skills are horrible. I am currently in school for health & our main fundamental is cultural competency, being mindful, care, respect, & compassion for others.Other wise why go into the medical field. I?ve been to other ERs before not once have they ever been so rude like this Dr. The NURSES on duty even agreed to his behavior and immediately gave me a number to file a complaint. So thank you to the 5 ladies who heard me about my concerns. The fact that nurses are more caring than this Dr. really shows a lot for who he is. I don?t understand how left body feeling numb is associated with acid reflux. He prescribed anti acids even though I already have anti acids at home. MakesZERO sense!

Worst Doctor I've Ever Seen
Came in for a stomach issue and he rushed us out of the room without checking anything. Spent 4 hours in the waiting room and he only saw us for a total of 7 minutes

Do not recommend ever seeing him
Most rude, impatient, condescending Dr. Dismissed all of my wife’s symptoms about a migraine with aura, concluded that it was just congestion from her previously having pneumonia. Came back a second time because my wife wanted a more thorough exam and he talked over her and raised his voice basically saying you’re wrong I’m right and sped off. He should not be near patients with his kind of attitude and doesn’t know how to properly talk to people or hear them out. He needs to stop practicing asap.

A doctor truly skilled in his practice!
Telehealth
Dr. Hughes has diagnosed issues with me more then once and when other doctors incorrectly diagnosed me, Dr. Hughes nailed it! The last time was for a stomach acid condition that has symptoms of making me just feeling horrible all the time. Dr. Hughes kept telling me that he believes its excessive stomach acid but I argued and said 'I have not heartburn'! He explained that many do not have heartburn and told me what over the counter drug to go buy and how to take it. I have been fine ever since! I really cannot comprehend why all the bad reviews except to say maybe they just do not want to believe or listen to his expertise? From what I understand Dr. Hughes has been practicing as an ER doctor for over 30+ years now.. obviously he is doing something right... if you need a solid correct diagnosis then Dr. Hughes is your doctor BUT if you are not going to listen to a doctor with this much experience and formulate your own opinion why would you go to see a doctor in the first place?

Rude, arrogant and condescending Dr.
Dr. Jeffrey M Hughes is a rude, arrogant, and condescending person. He didn't do any blood work, or any work done for that matter. Yet, he had the audacity to go into the room I was in and be so rude and condescending. My feelings, emotions, and what I had to say didn't matter to Dr. Hughes. Instead, he said, you didn't have such,(didn't do a full test to check for a stroke), then he said now you know (as to according to him what I have) in such a rude codecending manner ." How can someone diagnose without hearing about the symptoms, medical history, or do any lab work. I was in a very vulnerable state and pain. I do not recommend Dr. Jeffrey M Hughes, especially when we are at our most vulnerable. He clearly showed he does not care about his patients. Nobody deserves to be treated with such disrespect and a condescending manner . I have been seen at St. Joseph Providence ER in the past with decent experiences and this time it was not it and I don't plan to go there again.

Worse Doctor Ever
Most selfish and unprofessional “doctor”. Simply there for only a salary. I went in trying to seek assistance since I was experiencing scrotum pain. Made it very clear to the doctor that the pain had been recurring for 2 months. I asked if I could get a scrotum ultrasound or CT scan. Instead they concluded to take ibuprofen and let the pain go away on its own. Careless and lacks empathy for patients. We asked the nurse Katie if we could possibly get the ultrasound to confirm there is not serious health condition with my testicular pain. Instead she told me to take medication and pain would go away on its own. We insisted if we could please get an ultrasound or CT scan. The nurse walked away and had the rude doctor come in to intimidate us that my condition was not urgent or “an emergency”. St. Joseph how can you have these so -called professionals in the hands and care of many people’s lives?

Terrible doctor
This doctor should not be practicing at all. Not only does he lack empathy towards his patients, but he is dismissive and rude. My mom has been very sick for 4 days and was went to the ER two days in a row. She was seen by Doctor Hughes on 02/07/2022 and was left in tears. My mom has a bad liver and a bad kidney she was trying to explain to the doctor her symptoms and he rudely cut her off and did not give her the chance to explain her concerns. He then rudely walked away and asked the nurse to just give my mom more pain killers. She left with no answers and was more upset that a doctor can be so dismissive. We will be filling a report to the state. No one should be treated like this. This is very showing of his based on his reviews. If i could give zero stars i would but 1 is needed to write this review

My son was seen by this Dr. He looked for & found no cause of my sons pain. Instead he decided that my son’s issue was something antithetical to his symptoms without thoroughly examining him, or performing some very basic tests, &/or asking pertinent questions to ascertain what was going on. This Dr. was rushed, curt, & arrogant. His nurse, nurse Ray was also similarly dismissive and unhelpful even going so far as to mock me as my son & I called for clarification & understanding of why the doctor prescribed an antipsychotic medication, off label, for an issue that was a ‘symptom’ of my sons pain, NOT the issue. This made little sense especially when the cause was not addressed. Our requests to speak to the Dr. or to leave a message, resulted in flat refusals. We were told the Dr. was no longer there. The lack of basic concern for another human being, along with the utter lack of ethical care, behavior & action here was and is unconscionable. Not Gold Standard Care St. Joseph

Horrible. Worst doctor ever in an ER. If you are there and seen by him then request another doctor. I took my wife because she had fever for 4 days. This doctor showed up for 20 seconds bedside my wife and just said it's a viral infection. No IV was put, no blood work was done while she had a fever and diagnosed her in 20 seconds. You can tell he doesn't care. He sent the nurse to discharge my wife and he didn't even come back in the room to explain anything.

This man should not be practicing in a field of medicine that allows him to come into contact with patients. He is not cut out for that. If he really wants to practice medicine, he should be doing it in a research lab somewhere that does not require him to interact with patients.. To say he is ill-tempered, rude and mean to the nth degree is an understatement. I have seen over 100 physicians in my lifetime. Dr Hughes is definitely the worst. If I ever need to go to the emergency room and he is on duty, I will definitely tell them I want another physician to attend to me.

I’m truly baffled reading the bad reviews. I was seen by Dr. Hughes in the ED tonight & he was certainly short & to the point, but when it came time to give me my diagnosis, he talked with my grandmother and me for 20 minutes coming up with a plan, which will frankly save my quality/longevtiy of life. He discovered that I was severely impacted in my bowels due to 1.5 yrs on norco. He took the time to write up a taper plan and was SO kind about it all. Because of his service, I’ll be myself again

Dr. Jeffrey Hughes was outstanding. I can in by ambulance about to give birth to my now new born son, and he was very kind and caring through the whole process. I ended up birthing my new born son in his hands. It was an absolute miracle. He checked up on me often, and showed me so much patients. I would 10/10 recommend birthing your next baby in this man's hands. My husband and I, and now our new son Jeffrey, are extremely grateful.

He is appalling, rude, mean, demeaning, reckless, arrogant & doesn’t listen to a word patient says, speaks over patient, yells. Doesn’t take patient’s history, doesn’t collaborate with patient & treats patients like a herd of cows. Spends less than 30secs @ bedside, sloppy physical assessment. Can’t wait to get out of room. If you have a question & he has to come back to room- he won’t listen to question. Speaks over you, dismisses your symptoms & throws you out of “his” ED. Never go to this ED

Poor bedside manor. Does not listen fully to patients symptoms and pretty much ignores patients spouse. (Who at times can provide valuable information when patient is a bit incoherent) Does not leave a very good impression that he cares much about patient. Just seems to want to move on to the next patient. Will request another ER Doctor the next time he is assigned to us.
