Best emergency doctor
Dr Matherne was extremely thorough when I went to the Teays Valley emergency department. He was able to help me feel better while figuring out exactly what was wrong. I would return to see him and the staff at Teays Valley without hesitation.

Excellent Clinician
Dr Matherne was EXCELLENT, very professional, addressed all my concerns. He's Emergency Medicine board certified, enough said.

Dr Matherne was compassionate and listened to my concerns. He was able to do the needed testing to find my diagnosis when my PCP was unable to. He was able to ease my pain and suffering and give me peace of mind. I would have no hesitation going to see Dr Matherne again in the future.

He was at KDMC in Portsmouth, OH. I made my fiancé go get checked out for what I thought was strep and Dr. Matherne was very rude. He kept pushing the covid vaccine on my fiancé (who won’t get it because it’s against our religion). Also didn’t believe my fiancé had a fever. Just very annoying and rude. Overall I wouldn’t see him again. Ask for a different dr if you see him…
