Dr. Jeffrey Merkle, MD

Dr Merkle was good back when I saw him, but for the last 5 years or more, his office has insisted I instead see an assistant. There have been communication problems. I had a bad reaction to a blood pressure drug but couldn't seem to get that message through to anyone. Left 3 messages on the Patient Portal; none got any response, and calls didn't help either until the doctor treating me for the reaction called Merkle's office. Not sure what's really going on with this practice, so I have changed doctors.

Awful doctor

Dr. Merkle was the best until he grew the practice. We were able to make appointments with him and see him when needed. Fast forward to 2022 and they have nothing available with him for weeks on end and your family is being seen by everyone BUT him. We loved the care we had there for the past decade, but if you look at reviews they have gone down hill the past few years for a reason. He is a great doctor, but apparently not running a great business. Sometimes there are growing pains, but this is not a well oiled machine! There is a lot to improve there sadly.

Rude staff. Left me sitting in the car with my sick child for forty-five minutes or more twice so far. Diagnosed him as likely to have allergies and had us administer zyrtec, then three days later changed the diagnosis to a virus, but they ran out of tests for the viruses, so we won’t know until they replenish their testing supplies.

Terrible practice. I have complex medical issues however have never met the doctor in 3 years, only physician assistants. When I go for required, regular bloodwork, no script is there even when I call office to tell them I am coming (4 times this happened). Also, they are horrible for prescription refills. Always a problem; every single time, blame pharmacist which I love, don’t like liars. Also hold prescriptions hostage if you won’t go for visit when they demand. Awful practice. Find another doctor, this one stinks. They are completely incompetent on every level of care. Have never experienced incompetence at a medical provider like this practice.

Not helpful -

Our family have been patients with Dr. Merkle for more then 10 years. He has always been wonderful to our kids, has always taken his time with us and never rushed through and appointment. His staff is fun and very accommodating when scheduling our appointments (which can get crazy with 4 kids). It's great that he can treat adults and kids so we can all see the same doctor. Dr. Merkle is definitely worth the drive for us to have him as our primary physician.

For anyone above a "certain" age and remembers the caring, compassionate doctors of old, Dr. Merkle brings you back to a time when physicians cared about the "whole" patient. He takes his time with you, truly makes you a partner in your care and has a calming, reassuring presence with even the most nervous of patients. Also, I have to give a positive review to his PA, Priscilla. She is very capable, caring and always has a smile on her face. The support staff gets high marks as well.

I have know Dr. Merkle for 15+ years. It is such a privilege to say so. I moved from Blairstown to Nazareth, Pa. two years ago and still travel from Nazareth, PA to his office. Dr. Merkle always goes above and beyond. He truly listens to what you have to say. I am amazed how he has moved through all my boys phases in life from newborn to toddler to preteen and now teenagers. What is amazing is how he knows their personalities and works with that. I always recommend his office. The best.

dr. merkle takes his time with you, explains how to take meds , what to do to help your condition. you do not leave his office with any doubts in your mind.

Dr. Merkle has been my son's pediatrician since he was born. He is an amazing doctor. He explains everything so you understand the treatment. Most of the appointments for my son are made same day and we are always seen immediately. The staff is always friendly! I absolutely love taking my son to the doctor!
