Dr. Jeffrey Rasmussen, MD

While visiting from out of town I was tripped by some playful dogs and ended up at Pen Bay hospital for an evaluation that turned out to be a closed fracture of the proximal end of my left femur. Dr. Rasmussen was the orthopedist on call. He explained my injury to me and that surgery was required. I was given several options: first I could be transferred to a hospital nearer my home, or stay at Pen Bay for the surgery. When I decided to stay Dr. Rasmussen explained there were two procedures that would repair my fracture, a partial hip replacement or a less invasive procedure to place screws in the bone to stabilize it. He explained each procedure with its benefits and risks but told me I could be a good candidate for the less invasive procedure. I opted for the simpler procedure and 4 weeks post surgery I am healing well, have good and improving mobility and reduced pain levels. I appreciated the the opportunities that gave me a prominent place in the decision making process.

Dr Rasmussen is an engaging and highly skilled orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder procedures. I had a total joint replacement procedure in my left shoulder a year ago and could not be more satisfied with the results.
