I was experiencing pain to my left wrist for years and NONE of the previous hand surgeons I saw were helpful neither in diagnosing nor resolving it, as they kept prescribing cortisone injections and physical therapy as bandaid. I am so grateful to Dr. Yao and his Team: he performed exploratory surgery on my wrist and discovered partial tears of two ligaments that hold the scaphoid and lunate bones together in the wrist -causing instability, weakness and pain in my wrist- and extensive synovitis in the area as a result of that -also cause of pain-. This is the kind of stuff that if left untreated for years could progress in a more serious tear or ablation of cartilage and joints causing arthritis. He performed endoscopically debridement of the ligaments and the inflammation plus thermal shrinkage to make the ligaments nice and tight again. I have my wrist back now! Thank you so much Dr. Yao!!

Dr. Yao at Stanford Clinic performed carpal tunnel surgery on my left wrist. Dr. Yao and the medical staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional during my procedure. Dr. Yao did a great job treating the condition with an enzyme injection to break the cord from the tendon. Typing on the keyboard just a few hours after the freeing the tendon from the cord, and it's so much easier to type!!! He's a good doctor and explains the condition and treatment options well. I was very lucky to have my hand surgery done by Dr.Yao. Though he got booked for months , i asked him if he can do my surgery sooner though it was not an emergency but I hate to take pain medications. He managed to accommodate me the very next day . I was seen at my scheduled appointment time, promptly assessed, and had the possible causes of my condition explained. I was thrilled to be taken seriously and realized he recognized my symptoms and knew how to help. I was given a brace for comfort pending testing to verify my condition which helped more than the drugs my local physicians had prescribed for me. He was well worth the 90+ minute drive (one way) to meet him and determine his superior knowledge over my local practitioners and establish trust in his treatment plan for my significant ongoing pain.
