1st & last visit
I’ve never felt more like a number than my visit with Dr. Howell. She entered the room (without as much as a smile) and had already decided the course of action without a speaking to me, which was simply a “wait and see” approach. I had to explicitly say to her that I felt like she wasn’t listening to me, to which there was zero reaction, zero concern. She showed no concern as to what I was experiencing or my despair in requesting answers. She walked out of the room, shut the door and I sat there wondering if I was just suppose to leave? Or if she would return? There wasn’t one moment in that appointment where I felt she was there to help… I don’t even know if she knew I had a name. I was more just another female that she had to check off her calendar that day. In short, if you want a doctor that listens, who shows care, and/or empathy… don’t go to Dr. Howell.

Just.. Weird..
I’ve been on hormone therapy for the last 28 due to cancer at age 29. I had come in for my yearly prescription updates as my regular OB Dr Moreno had left the practice. Dr Howell is her replacement and upon entering the room, Dr Howell informed me that “her studies and her clinic,” will not ever prescribe progesterone for hysterectomy patients. She states it’s only for patients with a uterus. She also stated she would “fill my testosterone,” but her patients, even when showing low blood levels, she would never prescribe testosterone. I told her that would be horrible of her to not prescribe testosterone. It’s vital for bone density, muscle mass, cognitive function, mood, sexual function, and energy. After hysterectomy my adrenals never made testosterone. I went through the worst phase of my life, losing all my muscle in my thighs, until my Dr found out I had zero testosterone in me. Since being on it for over 26 years I can safely say to RUN, do NOT go to this Dr.

Rude
A lot of talk but never any treatment. Downplays very serious concerns and likes to hear herself talk. Her concern or lack thereof, along with actual treatment, should highly be consulted with second opinion. Downplays seriousness of visit and patients concerns

If you prefer a thorough, knowledeable practicioner who follows up with you---do NOT go to Dr. Howell. I am fairly intelligent and all the 3 times I've left a consult with her, I'm totally confused with what my next step should be to resolve my issue.

Just has always been very thorough, kind & respectful, no matter what the issue. Smart, good-natured and a good listener, too. First saw Dr. Howell when Dr. Munoz, my regular provider for yrs (who is excellent!), was booked. Liked & trusted Dr Howell just as much, so decided to stay w/ her. Imagine now, though, Dr Howell is just as busy as Dr. Munoz.

Run as fast as you can AWAY from Jennifer Howell!! Not enough room for details but rest assured i will be contacting the medical board. The state regulating agency for Hospitals has already reprimanded UNC hospital for circumstances she was instrumental in and now it's time for me to make her culpable. RUN!!
