Dr. Jennifer Nelson, MD

She efficiently uses pictures and objects to demonstrate problems and treatments. She explains treatments step by step as well as any adverse outcomes that could happen, and does so in relatable terms. She is thorough without being exhaustive. She is skilled in surgery. Both a relative and I have have had surgery done by her and outcomes were excellent. What stands out even more is her kindness, caring, and compassion. She takes the time to listen and respond.

We can't say enough to express our appreciation for Dr. Nelson. My daughter had been experiencing extreme pain in her throat to the point where swallowing was no longer possible. She went to the same doctor twice where they only tested for Covid then sent her on her way. She drove herself to the ER because her pain was unbearable. Dr. Nelson was able to diagnose her immediately and admitted her. She ended up needing a tonsillectomy. Dr. Nelson was knowledge, professional and most of all kind. My daughter was new to town and all alone. She trusted Dr. Nelson so much that she insisted that she perform the procedure. Dr. Nelson also stayed in touch with me every step of the way as I traveled to Blacksburg. The hospital and staff were wonderful, but Dr. Nelson was exceptional. I would give her the highest recommendation possible. We cannot express how grateful we are for her care.

My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer by Dr. Nelson. Her and the staff have gone above and beyond to accommodate any needs or concerns. My husband was an established patient of Dr. Nelson, and has always had the upmost confidence in her. Her care is excellent, and she has such a caring nature, she treats you as if you are one of her family members. She is always reassuring and professional, yet very down to earth. Top notch ENT, we are fortunate to have such a great physician like her in the area.

I was having trouble with my ears ringing. Dr Nelson was able to see me the same day I called. She listened to my issues and examined my ears and cleaned out debris. Seemed to help so far.

I have been living with a cough / throat clearing for almost 2 years. I had been to another doctor that advised it was post nasal drip and prescribed Flonase, which I didn't care for, nor did it seem to work. Dr. Nelson knew the problem within a few minutes of my appointment and prescribed acid reducers for my "silent acid reflux." So far, it seems to be helping!

Listened to us about my 3 year olds issues and gave us the best advice we could get so far about frequent ear infections. Made my daughter feel very comfortable being examined.

Dr. Nelson is a very compassionate and caring physician. She was able to examine me and treat my condition which made me more comfortable what had caused the problem in the first place. She explained to me what had caused my problem and what to do to treat me problem. Some physicians would just give you some medicine to make the problem go away. I want to know why I have the problem. She goes the extra mile and tells you why you have the problem.

I had a good experience with Dr Nelson. I developed a growth on the roof of my mouth. She removed it in the office without any problems and continued to check and take care of my ears on the same visit. I would highly recommend Dr Nelson.

Dr. Nelson has a wonderful personality and great communication skills. She is able to explain things where you can understand them. She seems very knowledgeable, smart and truly wants to help her patients. Another nice thing is she has a scribe to take all the notes so she can concentrate on the patient. If I ever need an ENT again, I would definitely go back to her.
